Are You 'Offering' Your Customers REAL Value?

Let's quickly recap the elements of good copywriting. Copy (the written part of any marketing material) is the secret to sales success. There are several components to copy and they all must work together.

Here are some of the basic elements to keep in mind when you begin to write your copy:

  • It's vital to craft engaging headlines - the headline is the 1st thing people read in ANY marketing & advertising materials.
  • Take time to clearly show customers the "What's in it for me" factor. Simply put your customers don't care much about who you are or what you do but they do care about what you or your product can do for them.
  • Be sure to get to the heart of your business by telling your story. A story, your story, connects you with customers and begins to build relationships.
  • It might seem that's all you need to connect with customers but you're missing a key sales tool. The OFFER.

Offer something of value for no charge. Once you've invited customers to your site, make it worth their time. You can take advantage of permission based email marketing by requesting email addresses in exchange for a special report or article based on your expertise. (Note: there are affordable software programs to manage the opt in process and avoid SPAM.)

For example: James Roche, also know as the Info Product Guy, has an opt in request at the top of his website homepage. A clear offer to learn more about his product or services at no cost is a sure way to begin the online business relationship.

When you visit any of my websites or blog you'll also find an offer for my free Copywriting Action Plan. It's a great way to build relationships and give people a taste of what I have to offer.

Take action: What is your offer? Is it clear to your customer? Review your website and ask yourself if you are offering valuable, complimentary information to potential customers. If you aren't making an offer, create something today. If you are, does it need to be updated?

Re: Email Marketing, Permission Based Re: Email Marketing, Permission Based - [quote="topeyinka":c0jwwo97]Thanks for this great informative post. I agreed with you on "email marketing" as one of the best internet marketing. And using double - opt -in will definitely help in email marketing. If we keep looking at the way spammers do send mail, one may say that days of "email marketing" are numbered but with double opt in, I think "email marketing" will still continue to work. Cheers![/quote:c0jwwo97] Offering a strategic mailing system and high quality content is much more important to me than a double opt in option. Offering something of value and not overloading your mailings is a long term plan to use email marketing effectively. A double opt in is over in the beginning - nothing long term and ongoing. I'd prefer opting in once and give me the option to opt out if the content isn't good enough. Shri

Re: Poll: Print News vs. Internet News Re: Poll: Print News vs. Internet News - Interesting topic, GT. When I was working, one of my fellow co-workers always bought the local paper. When there was downtime and I wasn't doing anything (which happened quite frequently) I would read it. There were certain sections that I couldn't miss, including the comics section. I was addicted to say the least, and what else is there to do when you don't have any work? Now, I don't read the paper at all as we don't buy it. I do sometimes read it online, but there's a lot missing compared to the print version, including my favorite sections. Any other news I read about is online, usually just browsing through MSN's home page. I don't watch the news on TV, as the media is so biased and can't even show the REAL news.

Just as a commenter said on your post... don't call it a blog. I agree.
