Are You Still In the Game

Now that the 1st quarter of 2009 is in the books, let’s review your business plan for the year. And, for good measure, why not add your new year’s resolutions to the mix.

I know, I know. It’s probably not pretty. Business isn’t what you expected, and you are too stressed to worry about keeping those damn resolutions (which undoubtedly included getting healthier, better work/life balance and doing other things to alleviate the stress in your life).

Here’s some good news. The game isn’t over yet. In fact, we just started the 2nd quarter. There is still plenty of time to hit your numbers and achieve your 2009 resolutions.

But you need to start TODAY! How many of you would like to make this an April to remember? Wouldn’t it be nice to look back and say “April is the month where I really turned things around. My business improved; I got back on track. It was a great month.”

If you ready to commit to success in April, you need to do three things: re-organize, re-strategize and re-energize.

1) Re-Organize: You probably cleaned your workspace back in December, but chances are you’ve gone back to your old habits. Take time now to fix them. Make efficient use of your workspace. Precious time is wasted everyday when you have to search for important papers or you spend time organizing your workspace again and again. Do things right the first time!

2) Re-Strategize: Take time to review what went right as well as wrong in the 1st quarter. If the new business you projected didn’t come in, what happened? If it did, how can you replicate it? Personally, if you’ve fallen off your game plan, get back on it…before you get so far behind that you’ll never achieve your goals for 2009.

3) Re-Energize: Lastly, learn the necessary tricks and tips to re-energize your batteries. This includes eating the right foods, exercising on a regular basis, learning to alleviate stress and taking necessary breaks at work during the day. You cannot race your engine at 90-100 mph all day, every day. At some point, the engine stops running…then you have a lot more to worry about than sales for the month of April.

I write this blog not as a teacher, but rather a fellow student. I believe we all know what to do in order to be successful and happy. The challenge is getting out of our bunker or comfort zone and making it happen. As my brother Matt liked to say when we trained for our marathons last year, “it’s time to GET R DONE!”

April 30th is now 27 days aways. It will be here in four short weeks. You can either use this time to work out the kinks in your plans and get yourself back on track, or you can fall deeper into the hole that you are digging for yourself and your business. The choice is yours.

I will leave you with a great quote which I refer to often…“If you want something badly enough, you will find a way; if you don’t, you will find an excuse.”

Re: I will be away Re: I will be away - Hi Guys Thanks for the good wishes. I had a really relaxing time and as soon as I get caught up will upload some pictures of the Big Game we saw on some of the drives. No lion GT as these parks are privately owned and they don't want predators who will eat the herbivores that they have paid a lot of money for . Saw some elephant though and rhino which was great.
