Priority Before Pleasure: Are Your a Procrastinator?

Priority Before Pleasure – Are you a Procrastinator? by Amy Sherman

I wish I had more time. How often have you said or thought that? You’re not alone. One of the biggest challenges people face as they juggle parenting, work and their intimate relationships is fitting everything in. It’s also one of the most difficult topics to deal with because most people don’t know where or how to start. The following are 5 tips to help you control your time so that you handle your life more efficiently.

1. The first step to consider is how efficient you are at getting organized. Ask yourself the following questions:
* Do I struggle during the day to get everything done?
* Do I avoid what I don’t like doing?
* Do I know where I am wasting time?
It’s important to be objective so you can plan and follow a realistic schedule that will give you the results you want.

2. Prioritize. Make a to-do list for the day. Then arrange the tasks in order of importance. For example,
a. Review financial report [ 3 ]
b. Call attorney [1 ]
c. Finish writing business proposal [4]
c. Make dental appointment [2]
d. Go to Post Office [5 ]

3. What you don’t get done, carry over to the next day, making it your number one task. Try not to squeeze too much into one day, since that would only frustrate, overwhelm and prevent you from accomplishing what you want to do. Also, don’t take on anything at the last minute. Just do it the next day, when you can leisurely put in the quality effort.

5. Remember, to do your priorities before your leisure. It’s a thrill to reward yourself with something enjoyable because you had such a productive day.

These simple strategies can move you forward and break your chronic tendency to put things off. It can get you back on track and prevent you from relying on a crisis to get your motivated. When you take control of your time, you reduce the everyday chaos and build your sense of accomplishment, which is very empowering and fulfilling.

Re: What works for you? Re: What works for you? - If you love your work, then there is no pressure. So, pressure builds up when you work for someone else. Actually, Pleasure and Pain are both side of one coin. You need to have both in order to succeed in life. Take risks and rewards are higher. Take less risks, the rewards are less. So, understand your capacity and take charge. Thanks, Robert
Re: Subject line Etiquette Re: Subject line Etiquette - [quote="jvprosperity":btyoa0j1]Another email rant: Is there some place on the internet that outlines proper "Subject line" headings? There mus be a system out there that people use to be more efficient email senders. Not everything that comes into my mail box requires my immediate attention. I would love to educate myself and the people who send me emails on proper subject lines. Maybe something like: "Urgent Review: <<Title of document>>" "Decision Required: "<<Subject matter>>" just something for me to quickly scan the subject lines and decide which ones need my immediate attention. Anyone know of such email standards that exist out there?[/quote:btyoa0j1] Hi Andy, The only system I know of at the moment is the "Set Priority" feature on MS Outlook. It allows you to add an exclamation mark to flag the message as being of high, normal or low priority. However, I'd say that a "sender" is still better off using the phone rather than sending an email that's labeled "urgent".
Approaching Social Marketing from the right angle Approaching Social Marketing from the right angle - Many Marketers approach Social sites the wrong way, they join as many as they can find and begin to spread links to their chosen opportunities right from their first post, trying to grab as many connections and friends as they can in the process, but this is not the way to be effective on any social network. There is a correct way and a wrong way to perform Social Marketing and being like a bull in a china shop is definitely the wrong way. To start with you need to establish your presence in one social net before moving onto another and the correct way to do this is by being friendly and not spamming the heck out of the members already there, keep your links subdued and let your signature do the promoting, definitely don't try to connect with all and sundry it's a waste of time and energy instead select a few people that you feel match your interests or skills and form relationships with them, these will become your foundation for further growth in the network. When posting make your posts informative pick subjects that fit the tone of the current conversations and keep links to your opportunity out of them to begin with you will have plenty of time and opportunity to include them later to begin with though ensure your signature has at least one link to your main opportunity. Another big problem is the use of alias, hiding behind a false image of who you really are, this can really bite later when your true identity is exposed as the level of trust you have established can be shattered, where possible use your real name and a decent head and shoulders shot of yourself allow visitors to your profile to look you in the eyes and see who you really are. This will assist in establishing your reputation and you will soon be recognized readily both as a person and knowledgeable through your postings. Establishing yourself one network at a time is also important as it allows you to spend much more time on a single network, your continual presence on a network will help you build strong bonds with other users and increase your popularity overall. This may seem like the slow way to social market however it is much faster and less labor intensive than joining a dozen networks at once. Once you have established yourself into a networks community you can then look to expand to a second and possibly third network where because of the bonds and reputation built at the first you will find you are accepted much faster and will find people there who know you from the first social site you joined. One golden rule that should be observed is to never get tangled in a heated or abusive debate, should you find yourself caught in one then withdraw quickly and let the moderators and site admins know things are getting heated so they can cool it off before it spreads to the whole community, should you be caught on one side of a debate between you and another party then try to keep your cool and stick to the facts providing links to relevant information to support your side above all try to act professional even if the other party won't there is no shame in being proven wrong if you held yourself in a professional manner, even the most knowledgeable of us still have room to learn. Social Marketing requires a lot of common sense and the ability to communicate and be social and being social is how it works, go into social sites not as a salesperson out to make a million but as someone willing to share knowledge and find new friends to share more than just the few links you promote, more as in a laugh or even a tear, someone willing to listen as well as advise and you will find Social Marketing both Fun and a Pleasure besides being profitable.
