Research has shown that we are the average of the five people with whom we spend the most time. Your income is likely around the average of their five incomes. Your level of personal and professional success is also likely around the average of their combined personal and professional success. That's a great piece of information to have. My mother used to always say, "birds of a feather flock together." Parents often tell their children that they will be judged by adults primarily based on the group of friends they have. This is part of being social creatures. We often seek out others like us, usually consciously but sometimes unconsciously. Think about the people with whom you spend the most time, even expand the number out from five to 10, 15, 20, etc. What are they like? How do you feel when you are with them? When you aren't with them? Do they inspire you? Do they support your dreams? Do they encourage you to go after what you want?
In order for you to truly reach the levels of success that you desire in a way that feels great and in a manner that is sustainable, you need to surround yourself with people who support you every step of the way. If that does not describe the community you currently have, begin to seek out people who will be your champions. How do you do that?
You don't need to drop your current circle - although you may decide that you want to pull back on a relationship or two that isn't serving you in the way you want and deserve. Focus first on identifying people who would be a perfect fit for your success community. These can be supportive people with whom you are already in relationship and want to invite that person to support you more specifically. This is a simple way to upgrade your community. Simply ask a close friend whose opinions you value to offer their thoughts in new areas of your life. Also look at your acquaintances. Who among them is someone with whom you would like to spend more time? Attend events and meetings that inspire you and see who else is there. Take a look at your social network. Who could you call or meet in person or simply correspond with more personally to form a deeper bond. This is the reason I started a MeetUp Group in conjunction with the Effortless Success Facebook Group - I wanted to host live events to get to meet some of the amazing women entrepreneurs I have been meeting online. Our first event last week was a terrific success.
One of your most powerful tools in creating the life and business of your dreams is to build a community that will love and support you every step of the way. Give yourself permission to spend time only with people who recognize you for the amazing and wonderful person that you are and treat you accordingly and let everyone else flock together with those few who just don't get how talented, powerful and brilliant you are.
I'm truly delighted that you are part of my community!
