Create an Outrageously Healthy Environment at Play
It is so easy to commit to make changes in an area of your life and then forget about them once you are relaxing or out with friends and family.
We may have decided to give up smoking, take up exercise or stop eating chocolate but somehow our resolve leaves us when we are playing. It’s one thing to make a decision but it’s another to fully commit to it and take action to support that decision. So let’s set ourselves up for success, by supporting our decision to be outrageously healthy by creating environments in which this decision is supported and feels like an easy option.
Food is an easy option to ignore in this situation, so make a conscious choice about whether you’re going to eat play food or outrageously healthy food.
Here are some strategies to avoid the things you don’t see as fitting in with your outrageously healthy lifestyle:
When you go to a café or restaurant choose to sit with your back to the display cabinet containing all the sweet treats. This way you are not constantly looking at them and it also allows you to be fully present to the people you’re with and the conversation you're having
Only look at the sections on the menu you wish to choose from, don’t look at the desert menu if you want to avoid sweet food;
When you’re walking down the street don’t gaze at the cake or bread shop windows, place your attention elsewhere. Notice how blue the sky is, how many interesting people are on the street or look at people’s faces and smile – after all you’re so healthy you can’t stop smiling.
Set yourself up for success by taking on the challenge of not slacking off when you’re playing - and win. Imagine how satisfied and in charge you will feel after keeping your resolve.
