There is only one way to truly discover your true self-worth and that is by understanding and knowing who you really are. As we grow from youth to adulthood, we are told we can be whatever we want to be as long as we put our minds to it. Well, how many people do you know that have dedicated their lives to a particular profession and that appeared to be successful but aren't happy?
On your journey, you will find many things to help keep you motivated but there are four elements that are key to your true discovery. These things are Courage, Strength, Support and Time.
You must have Courage. Courage allows you to identify the areas in your life that need special attention. To be courageous is also to be brave, which means you must be able to stand tall, believe in yourself and tackle adversities head on. You must also be honest with yourself and this is how. The instant you make up in your mind that you are going to be the best person you know how to be, take a long look at yourself in the mirror. Look deep into your own eyes and meditate on your visions, beliefs and goals. Doing these things will help you on your journey to the next step, Strength.
You must have Strength. Personal Strength comes from the heart and it is only from a strong desire for something that it will manifest itself. You must have the Strength to recognize not everything will work out the way you want it to. Knowing this will give you additional leverage to continue on your personal discoveries. You will receive a huge boost to your self-esteem thus giving you wisdom to seek out your next step, a Support System.
No one can get through life alone. It is very important that you have a Support System. Your system can consists of family, close friends or even someone you work with that you feel you can trust. Your system will keep you encouraged; it will offer constructive criticism and advice. On your journey, some days will be better than others. But if you are honest with yourself and keep your visions and goals in mind, keeping your system alive during the good times can often offset the bad. Though this is one of the most important phases in discovering your true self-worth, no one can prepare you for the next phase. This is critical to your visions and well-being, Time.
Time is of its own essence. It cannot be rushed. Time is the only thing that will effectively help guide you from step to step. Courage, Strength and a great Support System are essential, but the efforts you put forth in each one will allow Time to be on your side. Before beginning your journey, remember this, you cannot walk without first learning to crawl.
