Long and Short- Tailed Keywords
Keywords are nothing more than what a person would type into the
search bar of a search engine when they are looking for something or
want to go to a specific topic.
What you are
looking for and what these tools will help you with is how many people
are searching for that keyword, in other words how popular it is.
If
you choose the keyword "semi", this is called a short tailed keyword.
Like
a truck bob-tailing. You can drive it but there is no payload. It is a
very broad description, millions of searches and 'hits' for that one
keyword. It, however, does give you a place to start.
"Semi for
hire" or "semi for hire with trailer" is better because this narrows the
search parameters, giving a detailed description for your potential
customer to find you. This is known as a long-tailed keyword. You can
expand it further to say "semi for hire with reefer trailer". This
describes to the customer exactly what you are offering. The more
detailed the long-tailed keyword is the better the chance of higher
natural search ratings.
Keyword relevance delivers the goods. Just
like a truck going down the road with a load. You would not use the
keywords "semi for hire" to sell truck tires, it is not relevant and
your customers probably would not think to look for your business with
those keywords.
In any application that you can use keywords with,
your goal should be that your potential customer can find you and your
business when they type what they are looking for in the search bar,
this will help increase your website traffic.
