3 Easy Tips To Stop Procrastinating And Launch Your Marketing Strategy

If it feels like it's taking forever to get your Web site up, publish your newsletter or launch your first program or information product, then it's likely procrastination is the cause.

Surprisingly, if your marketing projects are stuck in a holding pattern, waiting for someone such as your web developer or an assistant to finish their part, this too, is a sign of procrastination.

Thing is, procrastination has a powerful emotional charge to it. That's because procrastination is a form of resistance. Once you unlock that resistance, you're free to take action quickly and easily.

To get you into action, here are three simple tips you can use right now to stop procrastination from holding you back from marketing your business.

Tip #1: Stop Accepting The Excuses Of Others

If your marketing project, such as a Web site, newsletter, sales letter or program launch is delayed because you're waiting on someone else, then it's time to stop letting their excuses hold you back.

In this situation, what you're likely procrastinating on is having to get tough with your web programmer, or whoever it is you're waiting on. Clearly, it's time to have a frank conversation. My advice is to stop letting them tell you when the work will be done and instead, you tell them when you need to have it completed. Let them know that if they can't meet that date you'll be happy to have someone else take over the project.

Tough love? Yes. But by you being this clear and decisive you'll quickly get your project back on track and completed.

Tip #2: Keep Focused On WHY You're Marketing In The First Place

What is it that you're so passionate about in your business? Is it helping people and making a difference? Is it to feel that delicious sense of achievement that you've done something you're really proud of? Is it to make the money to put your kids through college?

Whatever the reason why, if you focus on it, instead of on the marketing tasks, you'll find yourself inspired to take action, even if the action itself is new to you or not your favorite thing to do.

Tip #3 Publicly Commit To A Launch Or Start Date

Once you commit, publicly to launching something by a set date it's unlikely you'll back out. You'll find yourself overcoming doubts or fears that had been holding you back and instead, quickly moving into action.

For example, one of my clients, Beverly Harvey, an executive career coach, recently filled her first high-end coaching group program for senior executives who need help finding a new job. While she had been thinking about offering this program for months, it wasn't until she publicly announced its start date that she quickly got into action. Good thing she did because Beverly's program brought an easy and exciting $15,976 of additional revenue into her business.

The Next Time You Find Yourself Procrastinating...

Realize that procrastination is just a cover up. Chose one of these three tips to help you and you'll quickly find yourself in action, breathing a sigh of relief as you happily sail forward marketing your business.

Starting a New Business Starting a New Business - Congratulations on the first step of deciding to create your own business. First, you have to ascertain if you are going to be selling your products or services to people or to businesses. People purchase products and services for three basic reasons: •To satisfy basic needs •To solve problems •To make themselves feel good. You have to determine which of these three categories your product or service is the solution to. Businesses, unlike individuals, buy products and services for three reasons as well: •To increase revenues •To maintain the status quo •To decrease expenses. Knowing the reasons why people/businesses buy, you should have a picture emerging of who you think your "Target Market" (or ideal customer) is. Once you have zeroed in on your solution, you are ready to create your Marketing Strategy. If you look at any company that has grown rapidly over the past few years, (i.e. WestJet and Starbucks), it should demonstrate to you the importance of Marketing. In simple terms these companies have: •Clearly defined what makes them different; •Who their ideal customer is; •How to reach them; •Why customers should buy from them; •And most importantly why customers should come back again. It is strong Marketing Awareness that singles out the best companies. I can not stress enough how important it is to create a "living" Marketing Plan before you even start. I hope this helps a little in the creation of your plan. All the very best of luck. Remember: "A Goal without a Plan is just a Wish" Miles of Smiles, Marketing Maven

Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - Sometimes the best Internet Marketing Strategy can really depend on your business. It can depend on the particular industry and specifically it can depend on your competitive landscape which can vary from the low hanging fruit to highly competitive markets. I guess what I really saying is that it can vary from one scenario to a different range of strategies to another different scenario. How can you determine which is best for your ideal audience(s)? Outside of all of the technical aspects, which so many people tend to dwell on quite naturally, there is another missing element that is sometimes missing from the SEO/Social Media set of skills. Two principles to keep in mind when you are working on your "strategy." 1. The single biggest missing element is the one that puts you ahead of the competition in a major way. That element is "creativity." So many people spend hundreds of hours trying to replicate what others are doing. Creativity is the element that will allow you opportunity to become a leader (instead of just following the crowd trying to copy everyone else.) True creativity mixed in with your SEO strategy can position you as the leader and the next thing you know, everyone will be watching what you do and trying to follow your lead. But when you are the creator, it keeps you ahead of the game because you are growing in directions of your choosing and using your time to be productive. 2. The other element of any great Internet Marketing Strategy (outside of the technical skills and know how) deals with you delivery of information. Try to always remember that your strategies are not just there to help you pursue money and wealth, but you are writing to serve your audience. Why do people search the Internet in the first place. Often it is because they are searching or researching information based on the conditions in their lives. Consider the purpose that you write and create content and ensure you are creating the type of useful, helpful and engaging content that satisfies the reason someone chose to search in the first place. Remember that running a business is about making a profit, but even more important to remember is that life is about serving your readers and life is about helping people. Money comes and goes and everyone needs it to live. But people are eternal and how we care about our customers and readers will be evident in your work, whether you realize it sooner or later. Instead of going after the one hit type of sale or service, build within your Web strategy one of the most powerful strategies that can be built. I am referring to building clients for life by remembering that the Internet is not much different than the real world, or it does not have to be if you focus on building relationships using the World Wide Web. I rarely share on forums because so many of them can become nearly like battlegrounds with people all trying to argue their points. But the reason I like Evan's forum here is because ever since I joined it, I've seen nothing but evidence of friends helping other friends and that's what makes this group so great. Good luck on your journey to find your best Internet Marketing Strategy and I wish each and every reader here the very best of success along your path.
