My name is Sarah James-Cyrus and I am 31 years old.  I graduated as a Trainee Barrister in 2001 BUT  currently working with the Emergency Services sector. This job has been a real eye opener for me. It was whilst working on a Borough and seeing the level of crime, that I felt compelled to try and reach out to some of the youths on the streets today. My motivation to write has stemmed from personal experience, as both my father and brother have been victims of violent attacks.

My First Book :My bookDear Diary; Trapped in a Stereotyped World follows the journey of a 14yr old black girl experiencing life in South London. As a typical teenager, she worries about her appearance, is susceptible to naive thoughts, craves a boyfriend and thinks that no one understands her.   There is a contrast of sweet, naïve humour, with the harsh and shocking reality of the streets of London today. The main character is Tia, whose most powerful resources are her stable family and mature mentality. At the beginning of the book, her friend is stabbed and it is at that point that she starts to question everything. Her thoughts start to focus on black on black violence, racism, complexes and her own personal insecurities. In addition I am a freelance writer, please free to check out past articles/sample chapters of my first book on my website. THANKS.
