Choose freedom over frustration: Top 10 tips
Why is choosing freedom over frustration so important for leading and living a rich life? Because frustration is a form of resistance and what you resist in life persists. Conversely, freedom and love are inspired actions, which as according to Wayne Dyer, means they are “in-spirited” and will attract like energies that measure at that “500” level (as noted in Esther and Jerry Hick’s “The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent"). To put this into perspective, would you rather attract people and things that resonate with the emotions of agitation, impatience and irritation (= approximately “150”)?
1. Dare to be different. Be unconventional with your thinking, way of handling problems and issues, dressing, communicating with/relating to others, and doing your work.
2. Be your own best advocate. Stop being defensive and overcritical of yourself, and start putting your best foot forward.
3. Honor your inner voice. It is the one that believes in - not doubts - you. As Patricia Sampson eloquently put it: “Self-reliance is the only road to true freedom, and being one's own person is its ultimate reward.”
4. Take “time outs”. When you are upset or over stimulated, do something calming or grounding.
5. Avoid premature closure of a conversation, conflict, project or deal. Avoid “cutting to the chase” too soon, even though you may be itching to do this. Develop stick-with-it skills.
6. Do what you are good at and love to do. There is no rule that says that what you do for a living needs to be painful or sacrificial. So, go ahead, allow yourself to do what naturally motivates you. How will you know? Because it will do any one or more of the following: make your heart race; creatively challenge you; be absorbing and joyful; will stimulate your passions, to the point where you would be willing to do this for free if need be.
7. Listen to feedback from trusted others. They can mirror back to you what you could be denying about yourself.
8. Count your blessings and pay them forward. You will continually attract what resonates with your inner world: your subconscious mind. If an uncomfortable emotion, person or situation surfaces, be accepting of, acknowledge, and release any inner resistance that may arise by focusing on your breath and being in your body instead of your mind.
9. Recharge your batteries every day. Do something that makes you feel calm, restful or at ease – without feeling guilty: e.g. exercise, meditate, take a nap, or read a feel-good-type-of book or movie.
10. Think and act responsibly and with accountability. This will help you stay positive, sustain your success, and move your business and quality of life up to the next level. All in all, ”Responsibility is the price of freedom” (Elbert Hubbard).
