Don't Panic or Go Into Survivor Mode

Anytime you are working towards accomplishing a goal that you have never done before, situations and disappointments may arise that you were not expecting and may not know how to handle. These situations may occur when you are pushing your business/company to a higher level or even working towards changing the direction you were going in general. It is imperative that you do not panic when things do not appear to be going your way. This is very important. One of the most important lessons to learn is that not everything will APPEAR to always go the way you want it to go when you are observing your surroundings with your natural eyes. Your business may be flat; you may not be getting any responses to your resumes that you continue to send out; you have upcoming bills and at the moment you don't have the funds to cover them; the list can go on and on. Remain Calm. Do not go into panic or "survivor" mode. This is crucial because you will tend to make the wrong decisions when you are in a panicked state. When you make decisions out of negative emotions such as panic, fear and desperation you will attract negative outcomes that will set you back a little bit. Wait until you are calm and in control of your emotions and than proceed with a level head. This is a good time to start thinking about everything that you are grateful for. This simple act will shift the direction your mind was taking your emotions and you will be able to focus more constructively on the task at hand.

Learn to view these times as opportunities for growth. It is in the darkest hours of my life that I have learned my most valuable lessons that I have benefited from even years after the fact. Don't panic, make a wrong decision and proceed back down that road of doubt and negativity. Swimmers know that when it appears that you are drowning you have to remain calm. Panicking will not keep you from drowning. In fact, it will only get you there faster. This principal applies in life. I don't care what the circumstance is; when all hell seems to be breaking out around you and you have deadlines coming up, take a moment to stop what you're doing and do whatever it takes to calm yourself and get the positive and grateful feelings flowing as soon as possible. It's at this time that you will have the valuable opportunity of strengthening your faith in God/The Universe and realizing that everything is going to turn out just fine. See yourself and feel that you are in abundance. Visualize that everything is working out the way it should. Don't start offering ridiculous discounts, changing dates that you have already set or any other decision based on doubt and fear. Relax and be calm. Do not under any circumstance start to complain or tell others about your circumstance. Talking about it will only draw negative thoughts to you and this will cause you to back peddle very quickly. Take this moment to meditate. This is a breakthrough that is inevitable for everyone. Don't make a wrong decision and have to start the process all over again. You need to move to the next level. Believe me, at each stage of your growth there will be other moments like these. Push through this "trial" with the most positive and grateful thoughts that you can muster because you will see that it will be short and your blessing will be right around the corner. You'll come through this marveling at the faithfulness of God/The Universe.

I'm so proud of you. You stayed in faith even when you were so tempted to back track. Be grateful for being gifted with the strength and courage to carry on.

Another favorite quote Another favorite quote - Said by the inimitable Edna Mode among others: "Luck favors the prepared." I can't count the number of occasions where serendipity placed the perfect opportunity close to my hands...all I had to do was reach out and touch it... but I was not prepared with the information I needed to take advantage of the opportunity. I [i:ny1pux5q]should [/i:ny1pux5q]have been, but I wasn't. Ah, the regrets of yesteryear...

Re: Who hates cold calling? Re: Who hates cold calling? - I saw this and had to chime in. I HATE COLD CALLS. lol its terrible and a wast of my time. Something i have done is gotten online and found all the networking event happening in my area for the next 2 months and i try and go to about 3 a week. Even just for an hour. Dont bring any business cards. Just meet new people ask them alot about what they do, not too much about what i do and follow up the next day or 2. Has worked well
Lie about your fears Lie about your fears - While I don't think it's ever ok to lie to a business partner or investor, I think EVERYONE is guilty at one time or another of primarily focusing on their success and business' strengths, while leveraging their weaknesses (e.g. If you have a small forum membership base, you might sell the fact that a smaller membership translates into better and more intimate discussions. In large online communities, many opinions can be lost in the masses). And whether you're working with a business partner or with other students on a school project, it never does the "partnership/team" any good if you show signs of fear. So I think it's ok to put up a brave face and maintain your composure at all times (even if you're feeling afraid and unsure about what you're doing) just to progress forward. Panic can lead to inaction and business failure, so I don't see the benefit of being honest about your insecurities. In fact, I believe the ship will sink even faster if both business partners are telling one another how scared they are of running their business. Am I wrong?
