3 Amazing Tips To Create A Great Sales Letter
Your sales letter or sales page is an important part of your marketing campaign. Your sales letter is really the words and images that combine to tell a story to your prospect or site visitor about what you are offering. In very rare cases, a poor or mediocre sales letter will suffice - but only if your product or service is so compelling that people just have to have it. Often, however, it is the sales letter that persuades your reader - this makes an excellent sales letter a must in the scheme of things.
Writing a sales letter doesn't have to be hard or expensive - and when you follow these five tips, you will be amazed at how easy it really is.
Tip 1: Know Who You're Talking To
So often, we start writing our sales letters without having a clear picture of who it is we really want to target. It is just so important to really need to understand exactly who you are 'speaking to'.
Also known as defining your niche - it is important to have a clear picture in your mind of the type of person you're talking to, what they wear, how they speak and other defining characteristics so that you can tailor a message that they will 'get and understand'.
Develop a clear mental picture of your ideal client and write to them.
Tip 2: Identify the problem you are solving
The main reason people buy something is because they have a problem that they wish to solve. Whether it's that they want brighter, whiter teeth or they want to get their kids to school on time every day - products that help do this are answering a problem that exists.
In your sales letter, clearly state (in language that your reader will identify with) the problem you are solving.
Tip 3: Identify with your target audience
When someone visits your webpage, or even picks up marketing literature, they will give you about 7 seconds before they make a decision whether to keep reading or not. People are very time poor and if they don't see the benefit for them, they won't keep reading.
So, identify with your target audience right up front - literally tell them who this web page is for.
Tip 4: Create an Irresistible Offer
You need to address your target audiences' basic wants and desires - and it has to be done clearly and directly. Tell your audience exactly "what's in it for them", what they will be getting and how it will benefit them. When creating your Irresistible Offer, consider the following:
- Create Amazing Value -- give your readers a reason not to refuse
- Surprise your visitor, even shock them to grab their attention
- Solves an urgent, pressing problem -- you've already defined what the problem is and described it, so incorporate this into this part of your Sales Letter
- Demonstrate that your solution is uniquely superior - can you offer a sample of your product or show excerpts on your sales page?
- Prove that your offer works - testimonials are great for this!
- Demonstrate the Return on Investment
There are few people in this world that like to be the 'only ones' doing or buying something (unless of course it's a piece of artwork....) - instead, they like ratification that their buying decision is correct. The best way of receiving that ratification is to know that others have bought the product or service as well.
As the author of your sales letter - you need to demonstrate to your reader that others have already taken action and already believe in the product or service. Using testimonials is one way to achieve this.
Follow these 5 tips to creating your sales letter and you'll find that you are creating documents that convert prospects into customers....
