Blogging: How To Ramp Up Your Content For Maximum Benefit

Content Is King - you've probably heard it said a million times and if content is king, are you constantly adding new content to your blog?

If you aren't, maybe it's simply because you don't have a plan to follow or you're bored doing the same old thing. If you really want to generate targetted traffic to your site, it's time to kick your blog content up a notch, with more and different types of content. Have you considered the different types of content that can be added to your blog, and how you can use it to your benefit?

Posts you write yourself

Certainly, writing blog post after blog post can put you in a rut and you should consider using different types of posts. Consider:

Outsourced Articles

Hiring a ghostwriter to write some of your posts is a great idea as well. If they can write well about your subject, consider creating a piece that is so good it will go viral.

A good ghostwriter will be able to use your 'voice' when writing, making the content seamless.

Articles from article directories

Every now and again you find a great article from a directory such as Evan Carmichael that fits your topic, post it. If the directory allows you too, post it on your site - but remember, you can't change these articles! You can, however, add your own paragraph before the article and even after it, offering your opinion or commentary and giving it a personal twist,

Product Reviews

Product reviews are and excellent way to increase readership and readers interest. Review products in-depth and highlight the product's plusses and minuses. If you are an affiliate marketer, alwasy do some of these without adding your affiliate link and boost your credibility by showing you care about your readers.

PLR articles

PLR articles are a good source of inspiration - when you find a PLR article that provides inspiration, rework it for your voice, add your keywords and then post it as great content.

I strongly recommend that you spend some time rewriting PLR content to ensure that you have ‘unique content' on your site.

Videos

Videos are not only great for Search Engine Optimization, they also give your blog higher perceived value. Some types of videos to consider include:

Podcasts

Podcasts are simply audio recordings that are distributed electronically and they definitely give your blog higher perceived value.

Interview with experts in your niche, broken into small 10 to 15 minute chunks are excellent podcasts. Of course, you can always read your posts out-loud for those who prefer to listen than read.

Pictures

Pictures help break up blocks of text as well as catch the reader's attention. When using pictures consider:

Guest blog posts

If you are networking enough to know others in your field, ask one or two bloggers you respect and that you know will have a lot to offer your readers to write guest posts for your blog.

Remember though - Planning is Everything!

It's important to come up with a plan for the content on your blog. Planning ahead for the content on your blog will give you direction and make it easier to meet your blogging goals. Decide which days you will add content to your blog and map out which type of content you will add each day. That way, you're more likely to give your blog the attention it deserves, and get the traffic you want.

Re: Meta Tags Re: Meta Tags - [quote="ChrisH":tzc1bohg]I'm just curious what you all think -- - How important do you think meta tags are? If the content is keyword optimized and they are being used correctly (as per Google's current instructions) how important are meta tags?? Chris[/quote:tzc1bohg] Metatags were very important 10 years ago. Now, search engines are smarter... There are 2 very important things on your page: 1/ Page title: make sure to place some keywords in your title (avoid title like "welcome to my website, great information resource". You are wasting prime keyword real estate. 2/ Content. Content. Content. Content. Content. Oh, did I mention content?? Your content as to mention your main keywords several times. 3/ <h> and <b> tags are very important too. They tell search engines you emphasize these keywords.
Re: Best looking social networking site? Re: Best looking social networking site? - Hi Kevin [quote:3h76yt08]With so many social networking sites to pick and choose from, what influences your decision to join a particilar site? Is it just your friends, the content, people using it or looks??[/quote:3h76yt08] For me, the most essential criteria in selecting a Social Networking Site is its Content followed closely by popularity- in terms of daily visitors. Then comes the Content followed by the Friends and looks. Most of do social networking to attract traffic to their website(s) and as such the Content and Popularity of the site are important. btw, the list doesn't have digg or netscape or del.is.us which are the top social media sites.
Re: Books for Business Owners Re: Books for Business Owners - Hi DougSchadle, Thanks for sharing your favorite business book with us! A good book I'm reading now is "Maximum Achievement: Strategies and Skills That Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed" by Brian Tracy as it was a birthday gift from a friend. Tracy's book is helpful in identifying what's important in your life and then setting an action plan to achieve it.
Re: What or Who Sparks Your Business Interest Re: What or Who Sparks Your Business Interest - It's interesting to see what the different motivations are by Age Category. I've noticed this around me: 20 to 29yr olds: Motivator: Money 30 to 39yr olds: Motivator: Success/Ambition 40 to 49yr olds: Motivator: Family comes first 50 to 59yr olds: Motivator: Leaving a legacy i've only gone that far in my analysis. Of course this is a braid generalization but I find that it helps direct my marketing to individuals in different age brackets. The product/service can be the same but the Marketing message (Benefit Statement) to a 20 year will revolve around "Money" vs. a 30-something would be on their "Self Image"
Blogging for Entrepreneurs Blogging for Entrepreneurs - If you run a small company, you may find that the world of blogging for Entrepreneurs is a world that you want to be a part of. Blogging is a great way to get the word out to consumers about your product or service, and it can even be useful for inspiring employee loyalty and helping you keep your workers at peak morale. If you are looking for a way to take your business to the next level, consider what starting a blog might be able to do for you. Blogging for entrepreneurs has a lot in common with all other types of blogging, but it has its own unique pitfalls and strengths. The key to having a successful blog as a business owner is keeping your goals clear and concrete at every step of your blogging adventure. It can be all to easy to get sidetracked, especially if you are just learning about the exciting possibilities of blogging technology, but if you want your blog to succeed you need to stay focused. Write up a plan for how often you will update, how you will promote your blog and retain readers, whether you will feature photographs or video, and other aspects of your blog, and then stick to it with the same kind of determination that you used when you built your company.
