Websites, Pop Ups & Visitor Response

Using a pop-up on your website is shown to increase your visitors response. Response to what? Response to your offer - whether that is a product to purchase or a request to join your newsletter. What is a Pop-up? A Pop-Up is simply another window that literally 'pops-up' when a particular action occurs on a webpage... It might 'pop-up' when a page loads, when the mouse is moved over a particular part of the page or when a visitor navigates away from the page.

Many people feel that pop-ups are highly annoying and generally don't implement them on their websites however, when done well, they can be one of the most powerful ways to engage visitors, build relationships and get more sales or signups.

When you use a Pop-Up on entry, it typically grabs your visitor's attention and gives your visitor's a specific message. This message could be to look at a particular part of the website, a special offer to join the mailing list or the offer of a gift or trial. Really, the options are endless.

You could implement a Pop-up to be displayed after a certain amount of time on the site. This is very similar to the Entry Pop-Up. This allows your visitor to read some of your site before you make another offer.

Pop-ups on exit are becoming very popular. Allowing your visitors to look at your site and then making an offer as they leave your site makes a lot of sense.

One use for an exit pop-up is to survey your to ask your visitor their opinion. By surveying your visitors as they leave your site, you are developing valuable, in depth market research which you can use to tweak your existing products and services or even create a new product or service to meet your target markets needs.

Adding an exit pop-up to your products pages will allow you to ask your visitors why they didn't buy. This will allow you to review your products and services and package or price them more appropriately for your market.

You can use an Exit Popup to "down-sell". If somebody doesn't buy the product they are viewing, you can offer them a different product at a lower price and this will address price concerns.

There is definitive research that indicates that using a pop-up significantly increases your visitor responses to offers. This will allow you to build an on-going relationship with your visitor and turn them into a life long customer.

Re: What newsletter program to use? Re: What newsletter program to use? - Like GT and David I use Get Response and have not had any problems with them other than when they were converting to their upgrade. So as long as they continue to give me the service I will stick with them. I know that most people recommend Aweber. MichelleJ
Re: Keep going! Re: Keep going! - Years ago, while in the military, I started to faint in the operating room with one of my sons, the Dr suggested I leave. I was glad to get going, got to the door, opened looking for the toilet (some called it water closets, we called it the head) Outside the faint continued when a desk clerk came running, sir, Can I help you Sir? Response something like "Just help get me to that damn (head) door" Thanks" Sometimes a little will help get you going again
Re: Alexa Ranking Goals Re: Alexa Ranking Goals - Hi Evan, Thank you! I have been upgrading my websites to Wordpress and more actively adding content to them. The only exception is the one decliner, Japanese-Mahjong.com which I hope to upgrade and revive early next year... New Alexa ranking objectives: Japanese-Games-Shop: 350,000 Free-Wordpress-Websites: 120,000
Re: Re-Branding and Re-tooling Re: Re-Branding and Re-tooling - Dear coopadventures.com Sounds like you are on the right track. Websites and advertising go hand in hand. A great website can be built in 20 min. It can be like a great restaurant in the desert with no roads leading to it. A website must get traffic to turn a profit.
Re: What are your May Goals? Re: What are your May Goals? - Thanks Evan! I just changed one of my business goals from setting up a video site on Traffic-Geyser to: "Set up a newsletter email series (let's say 10 messages) on Get Response..." I reviewed Traffic Geyser in the latest episode of "David's Den" on my blog (see sig file), included an excellent video review of Traffic Geyser by John Detlif and decided against taking that particular project any further. Still lots to get done!
