Never allow someone to kill your dreams.

I was watching Oprah's new network Own and she had a show on about the famous poet Maya Angelou. She went through many trials and tribulations before she reached her fame. Her mothers boyfriend raped her when she was seven, only seven years old. I never knew this before today. The man was put in jail later for one day only and then released and killed. She had told her uncles what happened to her and because she told them she thought her words killed him so she became mute. Later a teacher, Mrs. Flowers, took her to the library and taught her to read. This helped her begin to speak again. Later in life she had a child and the only way she knew to take care of this child is to prostitute. I think if she wasn't raped she would have never went down that path. Maya Angelou went through all of this and still pursued her dreams. Keep your dreams to yourself only telling those that are pursuing the same dream as you. Never allow someone to kill your dreams. Some people are very insecure about their own dreams. They feel like they hate their job and if they quit and pursue their dreams, they won't make it. They feel since they won't make it you won't either, and they don't want to see you get hurt. Someone almost killed my dreams. She was supposed to be my mentor and she told me I would never make any money at TV producing, so I quit for a while. Still to this day I'm affected by this because my passion for TV producing is gone and I'm trying to get it back. So never let anyone kill your dreams. Keep dreaming and volunteering. I think as long as you're living your dreams you will become successful. You may end up in a different field of study but you will end up successful.

Re: Why Did You Become An Entrepreneur? Re: Why Did You Become An Entrepreneur? - Hi, The main reason I became an entrepreneur is because I would rather get up each day and work on building my own dreams and empire, rather than wake up every day and go to work to build someone else’s dreams.
Robots Robots - Perhaps its because I have a four year old that I "get to" watch these great movies. Not just once either my friends, I get them drilled into me over and over again for a month, or until another new one comes out. But I have to say Robots is one of my favourites, especially as an entreprenuer. Rodney (the main character) is brought up by a hardworking family, especially a dad that gave up his dreams to provide for his wife and child. Once a week the father and son sit down to watch the latest and greatest from 'bigweld industries' - where all the new inventions are launched. This movie is about dreams, focus, persistence, taking risks and ultimately winning. but its also about finding and surrounding yourself with people who believe in being better, doing better and following their dreams. In the end, while focussing on how he can find a need and fill it, he changes the world. Very inspiring for those sometimes dark days of entrepreneurship. Next month I tell you about my latest favourite, Meet the Robinsons! The Rainmaker
Re: From Greetings to Coaching Re: From Greetings to Coaching - Hi Beat, Thanks for your kind welcome. I enjoy conversations going in all sorts of directions! I certainly look forward to hearing more about your life and your entrepreneurial plans. It's exciting to hear how the forum has been helpful and how your self worth is growing. I'm committed to personal growth myself and I like to think of life as a journey where we continue to grow and develop. We have so much potential to create amazing lives for ourselves if we choose to do so. I hear what you are saying about so many people who don't have dreams or goals to improve themselves. What I've learned is that we all have dreams, but sadly so many have given up on them. Over time, they become buried to the point the person becomes unaware of them any longer. This is where being an entrepreneur gets exciting. When we choose to follow our dreams, we have the opportunity to create businesses which fit with what we really desire. That's what I am committed to doing for myself and what I invite everyone I know to consider. Thanks again for the welcome, Tami

Re: Getting up earlier Re: Getting up earlier - Hi GT, I guessed you would respond first as I know from posts in the past that you are a bit of a night owl like me,LOL. It's terrible isn't it when you are on a roll and everything is flowing and it is time for bed, you think you are superman and don't need sleep until the next morning when you would kill for another hour in bed. take care, Mal.
