Start with a stepping stone approach... 1. being with modular ehr,

2. then e-prescribing,

3. train staff to use office technology for all patient interactions that fit the software (ie no slacking or reverting to ‘paper' when technology can be used),

4. research federal incentives,

5. meet MU requirements,

6. seek out staff feedback regarding the processes/software so you can have a more productive workflow in the office,

7. check with patients to get their impression of the new features like e-prescribing,

8. based on your info from staff and patients access your current system,

9. seek full-featured EHR partners to software companies, and

10. install a full-featured EHR, if needed.
