Intuition – Your Inner Guide

Written by: Anne Walsh

Article Overview: Have you ever thought about someone out of the blue…and then they called you. Have you ever made a decision that everyone else thought was crazy, but you knew was right for you, and it worked out perfectly? Have you ever followed your gut instinct on something, and were proved gloriously RIGHT! If any of these have happened to you, you have experienced the power of intuition. Most of us at some stage wish we could have an inner guide that would tell us the right thing to do. The good news is that we do have an inner guide; the bad news is that the message can be fuzzy!

Intuition – Your Inner Guide

Have you ever thought about someone out of the blue…and then they called you.

Benefits of Being Guided by Intuition

So what are the benefits of following your intuition as opposed to listening to the promptings of parents, partners and others? First of all, this begins to give you confidence in your own judgment. It helps you judge whether this person or opportunity is the right one for you…even if it may not seem so on paper. Secondly I have never met anyone who regretted following their intuition. Yes it may have meant making a difficult decision but it WAS the right ultimate decision for them. Many great business deals have been gone through on a hunch…or intuition?

Developing Your Intuition

1. Recognition: I have relied on intuition for making most of my major decisions but I still have difficulty sometimes distinguishing between it and just a passing thought, so here are some guidelines I use?
a. Feeling: What’s the feeling around it? If it’s gentle that’s usually a sign of intuition. Something that is fear-based and urgent is not intuition.
b. Persistent: You find that you keep having the same thought about something, check it out.
c. Messages: You find that the issue crops up again in all sorts of ways..it gets mentioned on the news, you hear it in passing conversation.

2. Trust. So after you have got these messages and confirmation, if you wish to use this, you actually need to do something about it. You must learn to trust this feeling. Follow promptings and see where they lead you…

3. Openness: Be open to where intuition can lead you. One thing I can promise you is that you will be surprised and delighted by where it leads you...

4. Sometimes it doesn’t mean anything. This is one thing I have noticed about being guided by intuition. Sometimes hunches and gut instincts don’t actually seem to mean anything…but we don’t know that until afterwards…so accept that you may have the odd intuitive red herring!

So this week begin paying attention to your hunches. Call that friend, read that book, make that call…and who knows what delightful things could come to your door..

With more than a few strikes against her, she started knocking on doors, looking for a job. Seventeen doors later, the blunt speaking manager of a car dealership in central TExas declared, "I've been thinking of hiring a broad." And with that invitation, Marion took her own first step on the road to financial independence, yada yada yada Today, this "broad" owns two automobile dealerships, an advertising agency, and a stake in a local bank. chacha.com pays for search chacha.com pays for search - Although in ChaCha unlike Google answers YOU don't pay for the guided search - ChaCha does. Therein lies the benefit. It would be great to have a search conducted on one tab with a Guide and on another you can conduct your own. I wonder if you can open several browsers and have different Guides help you out at the same time.
Are You a Businessgirl or a Businesswoman? Are You a Businessgirl or a Businesswoman? - One thing that has irked me off and on for 30 years is the tendency of people - both men [i:2wryyhvf]and [/i:2wryyhvf]women, to refer to women, whatever their age, as 'girls' rather than women. College basketball announcers, coachers and players do it, as do the fans. These are 'girls' who are between the ages of 18 - 21, that's women in my book. Tennis players and announcers do it. John McEnroe called 'em girls and just when I was getting annoyed at him for being a bit of a male chauvanist, they interviewed player Lindsay Davenport - 30 years old, and she referred to 'em as girls as well. The Bond "girls" were girls up until the 90s, I admit, doing nothing more than providing someone for Bond to bed and rescue, but in the last few installments the "girl" has been more of a power player...nevertheless she's still a 'girl'. And of course there was the TV series The Golden Girls - which I liked by the way, but which featured mature women calling themselves girls And now here it is in the 2000s, and we get this: The Girl's Guide To Starting Your Own Business, by Caitlin Friedman and Kimberly Yorio. Their photos are on the cover - presumably the photo is of them and not models - and they are definitely women, not girls. And what "girly" chapter titles do they give us? "The Scary Stuff" (financial matters) and a chapter on ACTING Like an Adult. (Caps mine). So popular was this book, apparently, that they've now come out with a sequel: The Girl's Guide to Being a Boss (Without Being A Bitch): Valuable Lessons, Smart Suggestions, and true stories for succeeding as the CHICK-IN-CHARGE. (My caps) and once again I was tempted to take the book and throw it across the room. Let's indulge in [i:2wryyhvf]all [/i:2wryyhvf]the cliches, shall we? So I'd like to hear from other businesswomen out there. Do you find yourself referred to as a girl? Do you mind it? Do you like the culture that still propagates that mindset?
