Hooray – It’s Spring!

Hooray – It’s Spring!

It may not always feel like it but we know by the calendar that spring is officially here. What does spring mean to you? Don’t tell me it is spring cleaning! Just kidding, my windows could use some soapy water but spring is much more exciting than that.

The days are longer and the sun is getting warmer. Spring is in the air. Spring is a great time to start new projects and chances are you will be excited to get started. Yes it’s the season. All those seeds and projects you started in the winter will start to sprout. Just like the dandelions that will surely appear on your lawn seemingly from nowhere, so will the opportunities and projects begin to flow in earnest again. Sure some will be weeds that you will want to quickly discard, others you will fertilize and tend to with great care and anticipation.

Ask any farmer and they will tell you it is the time to work the land and plant the crops. Timing is everything. There is so much to do and such a short time to get it all done. Somehow though the priorities always seem to get done and checked off the list.

Trust the process and enjoy this fabulous season of spring. How will you get organized? What will be different than last year? Do you have an action plan in place? Are your plans realistic – get some feedback if you are not sure.

What do you really want to accomplish this spring? Think of the other type of spring. Imagine a big coil spring and imagine it catapulting you forward in your life. Yes there is magic in this season of spring. Look around you many things come to life, things that have been dormant (or looked that way) for months. What if spring could have the same power for you?

What do you need to clean up and get organized? Is it you? Have you been a couch potato for the winter? Do you need to nourish yourself and get active again? So many times I see clients who don’t appreciate their energy and how it affects their business and life until it is in short supply. It is not selfish to look after you, it is a requirement for a healthy and abundant life.

May your life unfold like a gigantic field of spring flowers dazzling with it’s beautiful display of colours. Remind yourself daily that you are tending to your garden of life, that the seeds are planted and being nourished each and everyday, for the fall harvest comes much quicker than we think.

Spring into action! The long lazy days of summer are just around the corner.

I have also been recommending to clients (and doing this myself) that they go back and revisit their mission/vision for their company. I find it recharges the meaning behind why we are working so hard. I also went to the salon for a girls day! Life does seem so much better when your toes look good. As far as isolation goes, I found the concept of building an Advisory Board/Team to be a huge benefit. With my team I can talk freely and openly and I have made some lifelong friendships to boot. Spring is just around the corner everyone....Keep up the great work! J
Re: Fundraising for school activities such as sports, clubs - You all are kind of joking about it - but in Nova Scotia the Department of Education has put very strict limitations on "non-healthy foods" in the schools. Hotdogs, pepperoni pizza with white flour, pop and candy and chocolate bars and the list goes on and on. Some are not allowed at all in cafeterias and vending machines and some are limited to only a certain number of times a month. I'm not advocating the "panhandling" or the making money from offering up "bad" food, the problem is funding is hard for everyone. Schools are underfunded and need help but the funds are not there. I also cannot stand how many fundraisers are out there - my 3 kids had over 6 "events" by the end of the 2nd month of school this year. Not sure of the right answer, as it is also hard to get volunteers to help out - I did that before as well! A fellow VA in the States said their school does no fundraising and instead "donate" $10 per month per child and get a tax receipt(I think). After all I have experienced, I think I'd prefer that at this point...but then you lose out on the feeling of "community" by having some of the more fun fundraisers like Spring Fairs.
