Making it Work!

Happy New Year and best wishes to all of you for a fantastic 2008. Every year I set a theme for the year. This year I have decided to use the slogan “making it work” as my personal theme.

Why not set yourself up for success this year and make it work. I have chosen this theme because it can be applied to every area of your life, business, relationships, health even those New Years Resolutions. How are you going to make it work?

Making it work to me is a mantra for finding solutions. Would you like to join me and start “making it work” in 2008? How will you do this? By first believing it is possible.

As a coach I get to work with many individuals and businesses to create a vision, the big picture if you like of their intentions and desires. We set measurable goals and more importantly we create an action plan that includes focus and accountability that is realistic and achievable.

What are your goals and intentions for this year? Is it a goal or just wishful thinking? There is nothing wrong with wishful thinking. Everything first starts as a mere thought but wishful thinking is not enough to change your life or business. It is consistent action that leads to success.

What is a goal? A good measurable goal has:
a.What you want to achieve – how you will know when you get there
b.How you will achieve it – the action plan
c.When you will achieve it - many goalposts along the way

Many times clients see their challenge as the Mount Everest of challenges. It may seem like a daunting task and quite often it is. Breaking it down into a smaller series of actions makes even the most overwhelming of tasks more manageable.

For example, maybe you want to get healthier and into better shape this year. Decide and describe what getting into shape looks like for you. What will being in shape and being healthier feel and look like for you a year from now? Then ask yourself, what will it look like six months from now? Start with the end in mind and work it backwards to set your goals.

I always encourage clients to keep it simple. In fact, when you are first starting set a goal for each week that is so simple and so easy that you know you can do it. This is setting yourself up for success. You will have a great week, feel good about yourself and you will be moving forward to reach your goals. Remember change happens over time.

What will happen when you start to make things work in your life? If there are some life changing goals you want to achieve this year maybe it is time to get serious about it. If you are not able to see a way to conquer your mountain and could use some added support, set yourself up for success and work with a coach.

Let’s make it work in 2008!
