There are library’s full of literature on the importance of communication skills. You can learn how to listen more effectively, speak with conviction, use your body language, etc.

But what most of the information overlooks is the communication you have with yourself. Many outwardly successful and positive people have outstanding communication skills but talk to themselves in a much different manner. Do any of these sound familiar? How could you be so dumb? I never get it right. I should have known better. You screwed up again. You should be working.

I find many of the clients I work with are slave drivers to themselves. When I ask them if they would speak to one of their employees this way, the answer is crystal clear – no way.

What do you say to yourself? Do you wake up in the morning and say “you look gorgeous today”? Do you tell yourself that “you did a great job”? When you don’t get a sale do you tell yourself “that was great and next time will be even better”? Do you tell yourself “you deserve a break”?

Start listening to how you talk to yourself. Become aware and start being kinder.
So much of the stress we carry around with us is self imposed. Change the talk and change how you feel. We all know the benefits of less stress.

Be gentle with yourself, you’ll feel great and when you feel great you might just grow your business!
