Self-Doubt -- Motivation
SELF-DOUBT
Self -efficacy is a belief about what we can do with the skills that we have. It is closely related to self confidence. Self - efficacy is a belief in your self’s ability to succeed. Albert Bandura, a psychologist who pioneered the study in self-efficacy has pointed out that: “Those with self-efficacy gladly step up to the challenge, those with self doubt don’t even try, regardless of how well they might actually do.” Fear of failure, doubts about not achieving their goals actually stops them from getting what they want”. Self confidence raises aspirations, while self - doubt acts as a barrier.
Some times our doubts may seem very important, and we like to give them a lot of attention. We worry because the quality of a doubt appears to be substantial. They keep pushing and jabbing us till we give them proper attention. We are never sure whether a goal can be achieved or not.
A doubt is just a feeling of uncertainty; it has no proof underpinning it. If a doubt has no basis, then it is a hindrance. Recognise a doubt, and move on. “Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there “
MOTIVATION
Once you have pure and sincere motivation, all the rest follows. The prime mover of every action is the motivation or the determination. From the outset, our motivation should be simple and sincere. Whether we achieve the goal or not does not matter so long as our motivation is very sincere. In the end, even if we fail to achieve our goal, we won’t regret making the effort. It will be a learning experience for us. Rather than feeling angry about not achieving the goal, ask, - “Is there something I can learn from the process or experience?”
Even if the goal is achieved but it is not in congruence with our values or deeply held principles, we are not really happy. It is not really what we wanted. People some times secure a job, but leave it soon because they do not find it fulfilling.
