Are you Reactive or Pro-active

Guest post by: Manny Nowak

Article Overview: Are you making things happen or are you watching things happen? Are you taking control of your life or are you watching it go right by you? These are the questions that we have to ask ourselves, this day and everyday. I hope you all know what a pinball machine is. I know it is old school but I still see them around in most arcades. In a pinball machine you have a little silver ball that gets shot up into the machine. It then gets bounced from one bumper to the next, it gets pushed. Then it gets flipped from one side to the other, it goes crazy. Just reacting to all that is happening to it. And then finally just falling down into the hole, only to start the process all over again. How about you? Do you feel like that pinball? Are you reactive or proactive?

Are you Reactive or Pro-active

Are you making things happen or are you watching things happen?

Is this how you are running your life, your business, your career?

Or are you pro-active?

Are you the one controlling what you do, how you do it, when you do it?

If you do not start to becoming more pro-active, the next thing you know 10 years are gone and you end up where ever instead of where you want to be.

You could go so much further if only you control the process.

Here are 7 ways for you to be more pro-active.

1. Right now.

Do it right now unless you can't.

The other day I needed to go to the motor vehicle office.

Simple trip, easy.

But did I waste time and energy procrastinating?

I did.

Then finally I just went and in less than 20 minutes was done.

Do it right now – try it and watch how much more happens in your life.

2. Highest Value items.

What are the things that are of the highest value and have the greatest success rate in all you do?

Why are you not doing them.

Why are you not finding more and better ways to do them.

If you are in sales, prospecting.

If you are in sales, customer relationships.

Work the highest value items and watch how the rest of the stuff just gets done.

3. Interruptions.

Stop letting people interrupt you.

You allow it.

You can stop it.

No one else can.

From the people who keep coming in and calling.

To your own self.

From email to the phone.

Stop.

Find a place where you can get things done and watch what happens.

If you get 2 hours of uninterrupted time you will do 6 hours or more of work. Guaranteed.

4. Plan.

Build a plan for the week.

Each day build a plan for the day.

But the key is neither of those.

The key is, stick to and execute the plan.

Do not throw it out 35 minutes into the day.

A fair plan executed is of so much more value than a great plan not executed.

Do what you said you where going to do, when you said you were going to do it.

Stop accepting excuses from yourself.

5. Daily regular.

What are the things you need to do every day.

Put them on a list

Know they have to be done

Get them done.

Sales people who prospect everyday – sell.

6. Stop delaying because you can.

Especially you entrepreneurs.

Stop putting it off because you can.

Just go and do it

Just go and do it now.

The less you put off, the more you will get done.

7. Stop thinking about it – start doing it.

How much time did I spend thinking about going to the motor vehicle office.

I have to confess, more than it actually took to do it.

So, just do it.

Follow these few tips and watch what happens to your life, your business, your career.
