Help – I am being invade by social networking and internet marketing

Are you confused about social networking and your business yet?

Or do you have it all together?

Do you understand it all and know what to do with it and know how you can use it.

If you do, you are among the minority. I hear the cry for help from all over the place.

People are working with it, yet, do they really feel comfortable?

People are using the tools, but the questions is how do they measure success?

People are excited, or they are scared, or they are just confused.

Most people I talk to today are just plain going crazy trying to figure out how this can benefit and help their business. It is not magic. It is not a cure all. It is not the last great thing.

Some people just say "stay away from me with all that".

Others are feeling like they are missing the boat and still others just don't know what to think about it.

How about you? Where do you stand?

Social networking is here and I believe it is here to stay.

And further I believe it is a very important tool to help you.

So what now?

Over the next few months, we will dedicate some articles to look at how to help you understand, get your hands around, and move forward with this whole internet marketing process.

But before we do that, first let us try and understand what it is?

First, is it internet marketing?

Or is is social networking?

Or is it email marketing?

Or is it Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, YouTube

Or is it all this and more?

Or is it none of this?

First of all, it all comes down to being a tool set that you can use to help your business grow.

No matter if you are positive or negative, it is a tool set and you should look at how it can help you.

Simply put, it is using the internet to generate business.

That is the simple, non-confrontational definition.

The tools are numerous.

The people who can help you are all over the place.

It is a hot bed today.

But still simply put, it is, "using the internet to generate business".

It is a tool.

So before you even look at the tools, you need to understand, what is it you want to accomplish

What are your goals

How are you going to measure results

How much do you want to spend.

It is still basic, simple, business.

You are in business to make money.

How can this help you.

Period.

End of discussion.

If it cannot help you make money, then it isn't a very useful tool for you.

For today just understand that the big umbrella is Internet Marketing

Using the internet to generate business.

Social Networking is one tool box. In that tool box you find, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, and many other tools of that type.

Email marketing is another toolbox.

Video and audio on the web and Youtube are other tools.

Webinars, Tele-seminars tools.

Websites, Blogs, E-newsletters area all tools

And there are many more.

These are all tools to help you build your business.

But they are just that, tools.

How you use them we will explore in the future.

For now.

Just pick one and learn all you can about it.

Then see if it can help you.

Then look at another one.

You can't learn, use or know them all.

And it is OK if you don't know it all.

Internet marketing is important to your business future, but, but.

First, you need to understand, then you can apply.

Don't get stressed out because you don't know it all, no one does.

This is another tool to help you be the best.

Re: Owning a social network software...How is it?? Re: Owning a social network software...How is it?? - Hi, I am a big fan of social networking software (75% of our business) but what we constantly have to remind people is the concept of a social network has been around for ages. It just so happens MySpace & Facebook made the ability to do it free & online mainstream and the rest is history. Our company finds that pre-developed social networking applications do not create good internet business. The simple reason is a social network is not an internet business; all it is a group of link minded individuals that are able to communicate with one another through the medium you provide. A construction company can build an office building...but that does not make it a profitable business. You need to (1) build your business and (2) build social networking software features around that business. So my advice to you, just like facebook.com opened up their code, make your social networking software open so ANYONE can modify it to meet their needs. Jeff

Jeff[/quote:1ckdc0r2] We were talking about this on another thread. There are plenty of social networks online, so it seems at this point if a person plans to start a new network - what makes them special or unique? What will be their approach to entice people to join and more importantly to participate on a regular basis? Chris
personal view personal view - My personal view on the social networking scene is I do not believe it to be in our human nature to live globally. If that where the case we would not be working continually to-wards this goal. It would JUST BE to begin with from the beginning. From what I can tell we are creating a new generation of people that are intolerant of the least amount of thinking involved in any application that hits the web. The TWO Button rule seems to apply to almost everything we do today. Have you taken good look around at the education system in this country? Social networking is perhaps the worst thing to end up on the internet. I do not believe the internet was intended to be used as such. All the Best
Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - I believe affiliate marketing can be quite lucrative, too. Some companies are paying their affiliates up to 90%, and it's basically all profit if you can advertise by social networking or just using the webtraffic your own site already gets. There is one thing that I would warn about affiliate marketing though. Check them out very carefully before you decide to sink a lot (or any for that matter) of money into them. A lot of the internet companies that are offering affiliate programs are fly by the seat of their pants new companies who just want to get some sales to get their business going. Make sure everything is on the up and up and then go for it if that's the avenue you choose.
