Masterminds – how to create greater success in all you do

What if you could talk with people who have been through the same things you are dealing with?

What if you could learn from the mistakes of others so you could make your own unique mistakes and not have to duplicate the ones others have already made?

What if you could get great advice from your peers, people who know what you are going through, do what you do, understand the things you have to deal with?

What if you could share the things you have gone through with others, so they could learn and so they would not have to make the same mistakes you did?

What if you could create greater success in all you do?

What if there where people you could talk with so you could stop thinking you had to do it alone?

Entrepreneur's, business owners, sales people, executives and others, why is it you think you have to do it all and do it all by yourself?

Enter this thing called a mastermind.

A mastermind is a group of people (4-8), with a common bond(business owner, sales person, professional, moms), who gather usually monthly, for 2-3 hours and talk. It is very structured. You get time to share your problem, issue, idea, you get feedback, you give feedback, you learn.

The mastermind concept is not something new.

It is something that has been around over 100 years and was used by some of the most successful people ever.

Something that is so powerful that you have got to take a look at it and how it can help you.

If you are not part of a group today – find one and get involved – make it a priority

You will be amazed at the results for you for your business and for your life.

Too many of us think we know all the answer. I don't need no help.

To many of us don't share and many times it is because we have no one without a vested interest to share with.

Here are some examples of a mastermind.

As I talked about my issue there at the table with 6 other business owners. All of a sudden, up spoke 3 people who had gone through the same situation I was going through. Three people who could share their real life experience and not judge me or worry about their jobs. Three people who I did not have to impress, console or worry about. Wow was the only word I could say. Did I just save myself thousands of dollars and months of work.

As Joe, another member, talked about his issues someone in the group popped up, I think you might just be going down the wrong path with that product. As a user, here is what I can tell you about my experience. What do the rest of you think?

Another was looking at development of a new product, but could not come up with a powerful name. Why not let the group give you some ideas on what to name that product? Kind of use them as a feedback group. Get some good advice. My own book series, “The 'Manny' Ways,” came from a mastermind session.

While Jane was sharing, I had to pop up myself. You know what, I have been through a very similar thing, let me share with you my experience before you get going in that direction. It might make you think of some other options.

When I got home that evening I shared by experience with my wife. I was excited. I cannot believe the ideas and help I got today at the group. I never through of those things. I mean I thought of some of them, but I never saw myself doing them. Now I know I can move forward, plus I have some other people who are encouraging me.

You see, as part of a mastermind group, you have people you can call, people who will not judge, who have no ownership, who will not fear and who you do not need to fear. Who you can be straight with and will give you the best answer period. Plus, it is all confidential.

It really does make a huge difference in all you do.

Re: What are you doing if o have a bad day? - Hang in there, Anelly! Those kind of days are just going to happen and we have to take the bad with the good. Try to think of it as being one step closer to a success, since each failure takes us a step closer to a success. Also think of it as a necessity to the process of learning. I'm sure you've learned something from the experience; perhaps what NOT to do next time. Still, at least you are making the effort to TRY something and that is a step forward in your life. Many people give up before they even begin; don't try anything out of the box. I know it's hard to believe it can ever get better when you're having such a blue day, but believe in yourself and trust that you WILL pick yourself up and dust yourself off and emerge greater than you already were. If not today (as we all need a day to sulk now and then) then tomorrow.

Sharing ideas, expertise to every and each individual helps a lot. Helping each other is indeed a way to success to every business!
Re: Help needed! - Hi Jeema, First of all, I have to congratulate you on choosing to pursue a business based on what you love to do! I really do believe we can create viable businesses based on what we love to do. I've seen it proven time and time again. Many times, we can call upon our own creativity to create some forward motion right away. It is sometimes the simple, but unique ideas that can bring people incredible success. If you have any ideas you want to test out on us, please feel free to share. Sometimes your answer can be sitting right in front of you. Of course, we need to consider the practical and that's why we're here for you on the Forum. I too, am a writer, but I do most of my writing through my business. I combined several passions and brought it into one. However, I'm thankful there are other copywriters here who can share their tips. I've heard of others who have had success on elance.com as well. Are you looking at developing connections over the internet or other means? Have you developed a business name? Sometimes having a business name and website can suggest credibility to prospective clients. What are your natural strengths that you can utilize? For example, are comfortable on the phone? The reason I ask is that one person I know actually had great success cold calling. She had a stack of over 900 businesses she called and got business from 10% of them. Yes, that was a lot of calling, but she got the clients she needed and got on her way fast! Best wishes! Tami
Re: Best way to start a business? - GT makes a good point. Everyone learns differently. What one person may be able to "wing" and make a go of, another may fall flat on his/her face. I think you need to take into account your strengths and weaknesses and head toward something for which you have more strenghts than weakness so your chances of success are greater. I think it is also good to find mentors either before.....or along the way. And positive attitude always helps; no matter what you're doing.
