Vision is more than a destination

Article Overview: Vision in real leadership doesn't just means seeing where you want to go, but also seeing how you are going to make it happen. Seeing the process, the entire path, the things that you need to do to make it happen. The things you need to do to make that vision a reality. What you need to do to make it happen. Vision is more than a destination

We have been talking a tremendous amount about

vision over the past year. About how leaders have

to have a vision of where they want to go. How

they need to be able to see the vision, the end result.

But today, I want you to understand something just

as important as seeing where you want to go. I want

you to understand that vision in real leadership

doesn't just means seeing where you want to go, but

also seeing how you are going to make it happen.

Seeing the process, the entire path, the things that

you need to do to make it happen. The things you

need to do to make that vision a reality. What you

need to do to make it happen. What you need to

do and the when, where and how.

Having you visualize the whole process and actually

see it happening. That is what we want to talk about today.

The key point for today is simply being able to

visualize the process, watch it happen in your

minds eye. You see visualizing the things that

you need to do are just as critical as knowing

what the end result is. To many times people

have great visions but they just don't know how

to make them happen. To many times they put a plan

together without really being able to see the things

they need to do to make it happen. To many times

planning is just a mechanical task without vision.

If your vision is to increase sales 50%, then I know

you can see it happening. You see your organization

at 50% more sales. But now, can you see the

things you need to do to make it happen. Can you

see things like:

Hiring successful sales people - can you see what

you will need to do to find them? Can you see what

you need to do to help them be successful? Can

you see what other changes you will have to make

in the organization to support their effort? Can

you see what else you will have to do?

Being able to see these things will help you understand

and define what you need to do to make it happen.

If you really want to make it happen, then you will

see the things you need to do, the obstacles that

could come up, the solutions, the things you need to

put in place. You will see it all taking place. You

can see it happening. Your vision will become a reality.

You will see the new network that will required to

support the sales increase? The new software you

will need to support it. The added cost and the

effect on cash flow?

You see, visualizing all these things will help you

prepare and get ready for them. It will make your

vision become a reality.

It will also help you make a very critical decision. Is

this really what I want? If you can see the road to get

there, do you really still want to go?

So, if you been struggling to make your vision a reality

what can you do. You know where you want to go,

you might even have a basic plan, but have you spent

the time, effort and energy seeing it happen?

If you spend the time effort and energy on seeing

that plan happen, on visualizing it, you will be amazed

at how quickly it start to happen.

Years ago many of us were taught that preparation

is 9/10's of the job. It was taught to us, yet did we

really learn how important it was. Take time and

visualize everything you need to do to get to your goal.

Once you visualize it, once you put it in the plan,

the execution becomes a simple management job.

This week I want you to take that vision that you have

built and I want you to start to visualize it happening.

I want you to see all the things that you need to do to

make it happen. I want you to walk the road to it

happening and see all the things you will encounter

and how you will deal with them.

Then go back to your plan and adjust it to what you

have seen. You will be simply amazed.

Re: If Plan "A" didn't work... Re: If Plan "A" didn't work... - Hi Evan, Thanks for this post, it certainly makes us think of our own approach to business success. GT, I agree completely that using plan B does not necessarily mean that plan A has failed. My approach to Internet Marketing, because of its many facets is to decide on one destination or goal at the beginning and I may have to open several roads to reach it but ultimately they are all heading in the same direction. Some of the roads will have twists and turns or may even be closed occasionally but they all keep on moving eventually, just at different speeds. My focus is to keep an eye on all of the roads and not to assume that if one route is really slow that I should give up on it. regards, Mal.
