A Life of Choice

  Whether we have a great day or a bad day is a matter of choice. "No it isn't"  I hear people cry (including myself some days) but I have discovered that with the exception of illness and bereavement  having a great day is largely  in our own hands, it's a matter of choice.

If we wake up on a morning and it's raining and our reaction when we look out of the window is 'It's a terrible day' then don't be surprised if that's the start of a terrible day.

If you are the sort of person who says "I'm not a morning person" giving yourself permission to be grumpy with everyone around you then guess what you won't like mornings.

If you delight in saying to people "I'm just in one of those moods today' or " as a way of giving yourself permission to have a miserable face all day which you then  inflict upon everyone else then I guess you've had a few miserable days!

How we feel is entirely a matter of choice, second by second, minute by minute hour by hour day by day. We may not always be able to choose what happens to us in life but we can always choose how we feel about it and how we react to it!

If you listen carefully you will hear people say on a daily basis;

"My husband/wife/boss/child/parent/friend/neighbour/sister/brother/inlaws/....and Uncle |Tom cobbley and all 'has upset me', 'put me in a bad mood' 'annoyed me'.............get the picture!

Well no one can do anything to  you that you don't give them permission to do, they may indeed say hurtful things, be inconsiderate, be forgetful, disappoint you and number of things that happen in relationships but what they can't do is spoil your whole day as a result only you can make that happen!

Sulking and anger, and angst however 'justified' you feel it is' may' of course cause grief to the person you feel has 'upset you' but the only certainty is you will definitely have chosen to spoil your own day. Next time you feel that happening ask yourself "why am I choosing to let 'what happened' get in the way of me having a great day?"

Feeling good about ourselves and the life we lead is the very core of our being and only you are responsible for how you are feeling. Once you have acknowledged that then you can start to make amazing changes to your life. You stop looking for other people to put life right for you and start to make it right for yourself.

That doesn't mean that having other people in your life isnt wonderful and indeed they can add an extra layer of warmth to a cold day, the joy of love and friendship are two of the greatest gifts in life but people can only 'add' to a sense of well being they can't create it for you.

Of course it's up to you whether you choose to agree with me, giving up the luxury of blaming others and accepting 100% responsibility for our own life isn't initially an easy choice to make (and even those of us who have chosen it still occassionally and spectacularly fall off the wagon) but once you realise the benefits you wouldn't choose to have it any other way. Warmest wishes and Keep flying high

The Second Life Platform The Second Life Platform - Greetings! I'm not sure how many of you have heard of or are sensitive to Second Life and its related entities. However, Second Life is a fantastic platform to mimmick real life business operations in a real currency based economy. There are plenty of successful stories for creative individuals, but I'd highly suggest doing your research and appreciating Second Life for what it is, and what it isn't.

So are you currently a member? And more importantly, have you tried to open a store front in that virtual world?
Re: Charge what you're worth Re: Charge what you're worth -
People will pay you what you ask. Very few will ever up the price. You are the one who decided what you are worth. The key is that we believe our services are worth the price we are asking.[/quote:292ze3jd] Hi Tami, You're absolutely right. In "Think and Grow Rich", Jessie B. Rittenhouse says "For Life is a just employer, He gives you what you ask, But once you have set the wages, Why, you must bear the task. I worked for a menial's hire Only to learn, dismayed , That any wage I had asked of Life, Life would have willingly paid" (Napoleon Hill 35). I think the same can be said when setting prices on eBay or Craigslist, especially when people are trying to haggle you.
Re: Favorite Christmas movies Re: Favorite Christmas movies -
I do have to say I've never liked[i:1rxsgr0t] It's A Wonderful Life[/i:1rxsgr0t]. He spends all his life having his hopes and dreams shattered, feeling miserable, and its only at the end of his life that he can look back and realize how many friends he has, etc. But that doesn't change the fact that up until that point he was miserable![/quote:1rxsgr0t] I love the sentimentality around watching that movie with your Mom! Chtistmas is made up of all those sentimental things. "It's A Wonderful Life" is all about perspective, much in the same way that Scrooge is 'realigned' in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" - which I listen to on CD every year (sometimes twice!) Happy Christmas Everyone! Regards Martin
