Empower yourself by the choices you make

Written by: Leslie Gail

Article Overview: Every single day we are bombarded by choices we need to make. Ultimately, our lives are defined by these choices. What should you eat? Should you go to the gym? Should you ask for that promotion? This process can be empowering, or on the flip side it can be stress inducing. You may feel empowered because you took control of your choices and their potential outcomes. On the flip side you may feel anxiety because you don't want to take responsibility for the potential results of your decisions. As a result of your anxiety you allow others to make these decisions for you.

Empower yourself by the choices you make

Every single day we are bombarded by choices we need to make. These others consist of friends, colleagues, a spouse or significant other. The problem arises because you are the one that these decisions will affect, it is your life not theirs. So, why then would you willingly give that power and control to others? It is ok to seek advice and guidance, just as long as you have the final say and you take responsibility for that. At some point you need to let go of the fear of wrong decisions. You need to be willing to accept the consequences, no matter what the result. Just the act of taking ownership for your life and the course it takes is extremely gratifying and empowering. You will stand taller and more confident when you begin to take the reigns. Small and large, every day you choose the direction your life will lead, choose wisely!

ACTION STEPS FOR THE WEEK:

1. Take responsibility for your life

This week take a look at your life and the direction it is leading. Are you controlling the direction or are others? It is so easy to get wrapped up in the process of relying on others. Just for once, take a breath and really examine how engaged you are in your own life. This week take the first step in relying on yourself and your own judgement before asking for help.

2. What fears arise

What do you most fear when relying on your own judgement? What if I make a mistake? What if I fail? What if that is the wrong decision? What if I am supposed to do this instead of that? Well...what if? Peel the layers back and continue to push yourself until the real answer arises. The what ifs are typically just an excuse for not trying.

3. One day at a time

Don't try to change your life in one week. Just take one step at a time. Just being more aware will shift your thinking and actions. Commit to making smaller decision first, get comfortable with that and then move on to the larger decisions. You will gain confidence and trust in yourself as you go.

Have a great week!

Re: Gap Between Rich and Poor Widens Re: Gap Between Rich and Poor Widens - What i believe about the gap between the rich and poor getting widens is a result of choice we make. Everyone has the right to chooce what he or she wants in life. You cannot choose for anyone. Check anywhere they say is the poorest in any part of the world, you will notice that there is still a rich person there. If there is no working knowledge, poverty and riches are everywhere but what turns them around is how you work on your choice in life. I read virtually majority who are rich in today in our world, were not born into the rich family. But they make choices to be rich using what they have to get what they need. Even in the Bible, it has been ordained that some people will be rich while some will be poor, not that God made that way but by the reason of choice everyone will determine what he or she becomes. What a good post we have here. Cheers!

Re: how do I get started with Wordpress blog? Re: how do I get started with Wordpress blog? - The main difference between blogger and Wordpress is that wordpress is open source. Since it is also the most popular blogging platform it has thoasands of people working on it, adding new features, extra options, which are easy to add and implement to your site. Blogger is very simple and super easy to use out of the box, but at the same time it is inflexible and becomes cumbersome when you want to do more with your site. I've seen a lot of site owners switch from blogger to wordpress once there site has grown, and this process is not easy and you then have to learn a new blogging platform. Also blogger being indexed quicker is largely myth. There's a grain of truth in it but the effect is so small its not worth the consideration. If quick indexing, free and a hosted domain (e.g yoursite.blogspot.com or yoursite.wordpress.com or blogplatform.com/yoursite) are your main choices for getting a blog then blogger is not your best choice. Vox is usually better for this due to the massive internal linking from the main authority domain (vox.com) - just add a few friends etc. to build some internal links from vox.com to your site. Xanga and Orble are other choices.the downside is these platforms have less freedom than blogger, and put in their own ads. In terms of ranking wordpress blogs tend to do a lot better than all platforms since they can be finely optimized with the right theme and SEO plugins. My advice if you are serious about an online presence is start with the best (wordpress), using your own domain as it will be the best choice in the long run and lead you to success more quickly.
