Follow the 3 Cs to achieve long term goals

I tell my clients all the time how much I admire what they are doing and the risks they are willing to take. They are all seeking something specific in the process of working with a life coach and very few realize the transformation that is ahead for them. We all go through life overcoming obstacles and hurdles along the way. The key however to surpassing these hurdles and making life changes for good lies in the three C's; commitment, consistency and courage. It takes commitment to do the necessary work, commitment to show up every day "plugged in". If you want to make changes in your life, there unfortunately is no easy quick fix. Commit to the process and you will be pleasantly surprised with your results. Next is consistency, consistency, consistency. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, sticking to a program for two to three weeks is not going to give you the results you are looking for. You need to be consistent with your behaviors and positive attitude over the long haul. Lastly, it takes courage to really take a look at your life and be open to creating new beliefs and behaviors that have been with you a while. This courage will take you far on your quest for a more fulfilling and purpose-driven life. Trust the process of timing and things happening in your life for a reason. This awareness alone will take you down an entirely different path than you were going.

ACTION STEPS FOR THE WEEK:

1. Commitment

Practice the art of commitment this month. Pick anything that sparks your interest, something you have been wanting to learn, and commit to teaching yourself a little bit every day. Commit a small amount of time each and every day until you have achieved whatever it was you wanted to learn. Maybe you have always wanted to learn to juggle. Start with a cloth and work your way up until you are comfortable juggling. This will teach you focus, determination and staying committed until the end.

2. Consistency

Are you fairly consistent in your life? Do you have structure for exercise, meal times, and bedtimes for the children? Again, all long term goals need you to master consistency over a period of time. Focus being consistent in your efforts and you will notice results. If you are seeking a job, don't just make calls a little here and there. Create a designated time every day and make calls and network consistently until something pays off.

3. Courage

Like I tell my clients all the time, I commend them for the courage it takes to embark on this journey. This courage will push you past your fears, past your comfort zones and open doors and opportunities that might not have presented themselves to you. Embrace this courage and appreciate yourself for everything you are doing. Every day this week tell yourself " I acknowledge myself for...".

Have a great week!

They simply have im - To stay motivated and work to achieve your goals, first thing is that the goals must be ones that you truly want and believe you can achieve. If the goals are ones that you think you should have,(in other words impotent goals) then forget it, it just won't happen. MichelleJ
Re: Do Women Play the Stock Market? Re: Do Women Play the Stock Market? -
I have been investing and trading in the stock market for 12 years. I have short-term profit goals and also long-term profit goals. However, most of my investing is for the long-term. There are not many of us out here, but since establishing my coaching company which educates exclusively women, I am encountering women from all over the world who want to learn about the stock market. [/quote:11123vvc] Do you think women have different goals from men. I'm wondering how you feel about that little word "play"... In your experience do women tend to see investment in terms of "playing" the market? BTW, I just checked out your blog as I noticed you use Typepad as your blogging platform. It's a good platform, isn't it? I tested it for a while, but am too wedded to Wordpress to make the switch. DH
Re: What is your biggest challenge? Today? Re: What is your biggest challenge? Today? -
I've been dealing with the same dilemma. The bottom line is that I have too many projects going on at once. I can only let go of a few, but I can say no to new projects. The way I manage it is by keeping an outline of my overall business plan...of where I am headed in the long-term. I take a look at each project and focus on the ones that are most important to my long-term success. The only challenge I'm having with that now, is having the patience to build my business slowly. I wish it could be all done now, but I have to get comfortable with baby steps.[/quote:347549j6] Hi Sharde, So as a small business owner, is it better to take on many smaller projects or fewer large ones to achieve your long term goal?
Re: Did you reach your goal this year? Re: Did you reach your goal this year? - I made quite a few inroads towards my goal but am still quite a long way off what I want to achieve. I am hopeful that the new year will bring better results. So long as we don't give up there is still the possibility of achieving the goals we set, so long as they are not unrealistic. MichelleJ
