Keeping Everyone Happy - A Job To Change Or Quit

Here’s one of the most popular jobs (or roles) that stays filled in any economy. Perhaps it’s one you have too?

Keeping Everyone Happy

Job Description – This is a part-time to full time position depending upon the needs of the individual or group you are responsible for. Situations include: managing conflicts, group plans, and interpersonal relationships. Person typically operates solo with the possibility of sporadic assistance. No guarantees.

Requirements

You must have the ability to:

~ Read minds

~ Creatively problem-solve

~ Anticipate needs

~ Resolve conflicts quickly

~ Keep the peace

~ Figure out how to fix things

You must also possess degrees of mental/emotional and physical dexterity to:

~ Put out fires

~ Turn yourself inside out or upside down

~Spin on a dime

~Place yourself on the back burner

~Bend over backwards

~Turn the other cheek with a smile

~Let things roll off your back, and

~Carry others on your shoulders

(love the clichés! )

You must be reachable in case of an emergency (or a perceived one), so keep your cell phone on. Communications skills are a plus, although not required. Working vacations are not uncommon.

On the job-training is offered. This is a volunteer position with variable benefits.

Applicants welcome. Job fills quickly.

While I meant this article to be funny, I’m serious about the topic. Taking on this role can be very costly to your health, self-esteem, well-being, quality of life……… There is a difference between supporting someone to create their own happiness and assuming that responsibility is yours to bear.

~ If your desire is to help others by being in service to them, how will you accomplish that if you intervene in an attempt to save them from an experience?

~ How do you know what that person might need to learn in order to become the person they are meant to be?

~ Do you assume the responsibility of deciding what someone needs to experience? (PSST - we call that helping when it’s really to ease our own discomfort at being a witness. I call that arrogance and playing God.)

Do you already have this job (role)?

Is it time to give it up or change your position?

Have a great day!

Re: How to Stay Motivated Re: How to Stay Motivated - Thanks for posting this, Matthew. Keeping the motivation strong is something I've really been struggling with. Donna, I think I was just not pushing as hard as I need to and getting maintenance instead of progress.

Re: Need suggestions on domain name registration. Re: Need suggestions on domain name registration. - Keeping a hyphen in domain is not bad and it does not affect on seo.You will get lots of sites with hyphen in domain that are ranking higher in google. The main factor is you must have the unique contents.
Re: What to do at the first roadblock? Re: What to do at the first roadblock? - Quit! JK. You need to make a serious decision about what you plan to do and if you can handle the competition. Personally, I like less competitive niches because it typically means success is slightly more guaranteed, as long as you are sure there is a demand. I would rather pick a niche and dominate it rather than rally it out with the big boys. For example, what if your idea is to start a new search engine? Unless you have some amazing revolutionary new idea, forget it. What about if you wanted to start an online social network just like facebook? Again, your idea won't go anywhere unless you have an amazing revolutionary idea or something.
Re: What to do at the first roadblock? Re: What to do at the first roadblock? - GT said, I think seeing that the glass (i.e. market or opportunity) is only half full is a good mindset to have rather than looking at the sheer number of competitors. I would have to agree. I think this is a great thing to think about in almost any situation, whether home or business. As I mentioned, attitude is 95% of the battle. Keeping it positive is the only way to get the things you really want in life. Helping others helps, too. See the quote in my signature.
