Are You Seeking Work and Family Balance?
Seeking work and family balance?
Are you a woman seeking work and family balance? If so, apparently you are not alone. According to the November Issue of Homemakers magazine, 66% of a poll that was done stated that Work-Family Balance was the biggest issue facing Canadian women today. My guess is that this issue isn’t limited to Canadian women, either.
So why is this such a huge issue? Is it possible to have a healthy balance if you are a working Mom? Do stay at home Moms feel more balanced? Can you have it all?
I am sure there are many reasons why this issue is so prevalent. I deal with moms on a regular basis who are seeking that ultimate feeling of having the best of both worlds- a great career and a fulfilling family life.
So why are the majority of women having such a difficult time achieving this?
Personally, I feel it is because many women don’t know what it is they are looking for when they dream of a balanced lifestyle. Often as women we do not do any self exploration as to what our hopes, dreams and desires are. We may not have really thought about what would have to change in order for us to feel balanced.
When I start a coaching relationship, one of the first things my client determines is what an ideal lifestyle looks like for her. This can often be a difficult question to answer. As Moms we are so focused on others needs that we have never really taken the time to discover what we are truly looking for and need in order to feel satisfied.
Maybe some women know without a doubt what needs to change in order for them to feel more balanced. Perhaps it is a change in their work situation, a decrease in their scheduled activities, a better relationship or a healthier lifestyle.
The challenge lies, however, in the fact that even if a woman knows what may bring her a less hectic and more satisfying lifestyle, she may not be prepared to step out of her comfort zone in order to make these changes. (Visit www.frombrieftothong.com if you are ready to step out and create more balance as a woman entrepreneur) The decision then to stay in that place of comfort can lead to a continuing dissatisfaction with life and a never ending search for that balanced work and family life.
Are you one of those women searching for that work family balance? If so, what is standing in your way? Once you answer that question you have taken the biggest step towards creating a more satisfying and rewarding life style. As Doctor Phil says, “You can’t change what you don’t acknowledge.”
What are you ready to acknowledge in your life today?
