Managing your Life Are you a good life manager? Would you hire YOU if there was a job opportunity for an effective life manager?
Part of living a balanced and satisfying life is having the ability to manage your day to day demands. Healthy coping skills are a necessary part of the job as an effective life manager.
So what are the skills that you would look for if you were to hire a life manager for YOUR life?
Think about it for a minute and if you want to have some fun, write your own job posting. Consider the skills or qualities you would want that person to have. Now ask yourself if you possess those particular skills or qualities. If the answer is YES, congrats! If the answer is NO, what needs to happen in order for you to gain those skills?
For example, if you believe organization is an important skill for a life manager, how can you become more organized? Maybe it is as simple as taking the time to set up some systems for the running of your household. It may also require de-cluttering your home or office.
Flexibility is another skill that many effective life managers possess. If you are always wanting control of situations and have a difficult time with change, effective life management may be a challenge for you.
What happens when life throws you a curve ball? Can you roll with the punches or do you hold on to the way things were or insist that they be the way you want them?
We all love to have things our way. Sometimes, however, being able to let go and accept change allows life to flow more smoothly.
If I were to write my want ad and all the skills and qualities I strive to possess, it would look like this…
Wanted :Effective Life Manager Must have experience living life to the fullest. Must be organized and flexible. Needs to participate regularly in self care activities. May need to take a leadership role at times yet be able to allow others to live their lives. Makes time for friends and family. Able to ask for help when necessary. Doesn’t take herself too seriously. Embraces change. Takes every opportunity to laugh. Appreciates life and all it has to offer. Doesn’t sweat the small stuff. Handles challenges as they come up without worrying about things that may never happen. Forgives self and others for past mistakes. Must recognize own value and worth.
Salary- A high quality, satisfying life!
If presently you’re feeling unsatisfied with life, take at look at the way you are managing it. As in any organization, the effectiveness and growth is often related to the management of that organization. Life isn’t any different. The good news is…It’s your life. You get to decide how you want to live it.
So have fun creating your own want ad then embark on becoming YOUR own best life manager. Don’t worry about how anyone else runs their life. Set your own standards. Keep perfection out of it and remember it’s always a work in progress.
