Taking Time for You-A Direct Link to Joy
,
For mom entrepreneurs, common barriers to experiencing joy are stress and overwhelm. It is extremely hard to be feeling happy and joyful when you are daily overcome with demands. One of the reasons many are prone to high degrees of stress and overwhelm is due to the lack of self care.
As mothers, either working or stay at home, lack of attention to our own health and happiness is resulting in many women feeling dissatisfied, personally and professionally.
Taking time for you is a guaranteed way to add more joy and balance to your life. Anytime you are not feeling happy and satisfied with your life, ask yourself what have you been doing for YOU lately. I bet you will discover that YOU haven’t been in the picture at all.
Women were born to nurture, the only problem being that we nurture everyone else first, leaving nothing for ourselves. Is it any wonder then that we feel stress, overwhelm and a victim to our circumstances.
When coaching a client recently, one of the issues she asked for help on was becoming more productive and efficient in her business and in her life. She was overwhelmed with demands and yet was not willing to give anything up even though she was constantly running on empty.
What does it take for us as women to realize when we are doing too much? What does it take for us to realize that we always have a choice? What does it take for us to realize that we are only a victim to our circumstances when we allow ourselves to be one?
We all have the power to make change happen in our lives. The thing is that when we are running on empty, change feels too big, too overwhelming, and too confusing. When you begin to make and take time to nurture yourself, only then can you become quiet enough to hear the whisper of your inner voice letting you know the changes that will really make your heart sing.
Then when you hear that voice, venture out and take that first step. Remember, a marathon is always achieved by putting one foot in front of the other. So is life. The only requirement is taking that first step.
