From 99 cents to $967.64 on eBay - Oh My!

Written by: Wayne Larimore

Article Overview: When I first started selling stuff around my office on eBay I was so naive. The success in selling those things encouraged me. However, what I soon learned was something that blew me away. After selling all the unused things around my office and home I figured out how to buy things on eBay for 99 cents and resell them for 500% profit! And I was doing this part time before and after my full time job. Then I found out I could import things from China. My bank account was growing enough to pay off our mortgage and be Debt-Free! I wanted to tell others how they can become Debt-Free as well. The snow ball kept growing...

From 99 cents to $967.64 on eBay - Oh My!

Never in a million years did I think I would be an infopreneur. My passion is computer programming and I still do alot of it. However, three years ago, after watching an infomercial by Dave Espino late one night, I called and bought his eBay package. It started me down a path where I was selling stuff around my home and dropshipping on eBay. The success of selling caused me to want to see more profit. Besides, the main reason I started was to start paying off our mortgage. When that dream became reality, I started dreaming of buying land and building a new home for my large family of 7.

What I soon realized was that eBay was a world unto itself. The stuff being sold on it was very diverse. From very bizarre to very practical. I also started seeing that there was tremendous potential to buy items at very low prices and then resell them to huge profit. I was seeing some of the items I sold profit 500%. But, it was taking more of my time away from my family than I wanted.

I kept refining the approach I took in buying and reselling. Eventually, I found the right tools that would search out the right items and bid on them while I was away from the computer. I would log into our home PC at night to see how things were going. It was becoming all automated. I had it down to a well oiled machine.

I then heard that I could import from China at low prices. At first, I thought I'd need thousands of dollars and hassle with customs. However, I found companies that would deal with home based businesses like me for as little as $300. And they even delivered the items to my front door. I didn't have to deal with custom forms, taxes or fees. My revenue kept climbing and climbing.

In April of 2007, my family and I realized a dream of ours that we never thought would happen. We became debt-free! My wife homeschools our kids so we are flexible in what they learn. We started incorporating the lessons I learned into their curriculum. Now, our next BIG DREAM is to buy acreage and build a new home. We believe we can do that without going into debt. So, we as a family, are watching our nest egg grow. And it's all because of things I've learned from selling on eBay.

Toward the latter part of 2006, I started seeing another way of making money. I saw folks selling their own electronic books. I knew I had something to tell the world. So, I wrote my first one called Resell For Profit. It is based on what I learned from day one to today on buying low and reselling high on eBay. The next one I am writing is called Debt Free With Five Kids. And it is about our journey as a family in how we got out of debt. I have another one in the works called Import For Profit. It will be about how the home business folks like ourselves can buy things from overseas for affordable prices.

Making money online is not very difficult. It just takes the right tools and know-how. One of my missions in life is to teach others what I have learned. It grieves me to see people struggling financially. It causes problems in marriages and relationships. It ought not to be that way.

And when you're selling items on eBay from a reputable dropshipper... do you think it's still important to pick a product you're passionate about (like what an entrepreneur would normally do when starting a business)? Or is it just about moving a popular item for profit on eBay?

Re: How to bring Traffic? Re: How to bring Traffic? - [quote="kristopher":22wqqtae]How do I get more traffic to my site? Has anyone bought traffic to his or her website? I'd like find out if there's any effective programs out there.[/quote:22wqqtae] It all depends on what your site is. Is it a site where you sell goods, or sell services? Depending on what it is, you might try Google AdWords. I tried them and was majorly disappointed, but that's because my site isn't the type that can benefit from them, as I found out after only one week. The reason I say that is because for Google Adwords, you pay a certain sum for each keyword clicked, that brings someone to your site. And try as I might, I could never get my keywords down to a manageable level, from 1 to 5 cents a click. It was always 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents to a dollar, which was absolutely ridiculous. But if you sell big ticket items on your site - then of course it would be worth paying those sums to get the one person out of a hundred who'd actually buy something there.
