Successful Living Part 7 - Succeeding by looking at the sunny side of life

Neil Pasricha's blog 'A 1000 Awesome Things' savors life's simple pleasures, from free refills to clean sheets. In a heartfelt talk at TEDx* Toronto, he revealed the 3 secrets (all starting with A) leading to a life that's truly awesome.

His story is simple, yet fascinating. Having had a 'normal' upbringing he suddenly was faced one year with a series of personal challenges. Feeling down, sad and upset he decide to do something to change his state of mind. And he did. He started a Blog. A blog that was meant to spread a little optimism each day about the awesome things that make life worth living.

He wrote about thinking it's Thursday when it's really Friday, or wearing underwear just out of the dryer. His blog '1000 Awesome Things' served as a reminder — in a world of rising global conflict, a troubled economy and natural disasters — of the free, easy little joys that make life sweet.

He certainly didn't anticipate that his site would gain a readership of millions of people, or win two Webby Awards.

Then the offers started pouring in to write a book.....

An inspiring story, so what are those 3 A's that he is talking about?

The 3 A's of Awesome:

Attitude – Awareness – Authenticity

Neil's talk got me thinking and I realized that his 3 A's of Awesome have also served me well in creating my awesome life.

Developing an Attitude of 'I can handle this' and 'I have a choice' or 'What's the Big Deal' has helped me deal with many challenges without losing sight of the bigger picture. MY bigger picture looks like this: Life is a miracle, but it's short. The purpose is to be here, to live it. Life consists of many wonderful things and many troubling ones. Whatever the situation – I have a choice – I can choose my attitude.

Increasing Awareness of how my thoughts, ideas and concept affect my behavior and happiness has helped my to get un-stuck. Including the awareness of how stillness for a few minutes every day is my source of creativity and energy.

And growing Authenticity has brought me a new sense of freedom. To by myself in any given situations, to be natural and feel at home has been the biggest challenge but has also brought the biggest rewards – Joy and Happiness.

Is there anything that could bring more Awesomeness into your life? Some food for thought; feel free to contact me if you are ready to make some shifts.

With my best wishes for your success,

Christiane Pohl

Re: Getting ready to sell by childhood baseball card collection. Re: Getting ready to sell by childhood baseball card collection. - Part of my holding on to them came from me not knowing how to sell them effectively. If I took them to a card store I'd get pennies on the dollar. If I sold them online I'd get closer to market value but it would be way too time consuming. I then recently discovered that a family member of a friend of mine sold collector cards on eBay as a side business so I asked if she would sell mine and take a commission on the sale. She agreed so I have until Thursday to get it all organized!
