Coach Petes Tip: Creating a Powerful Personal Vision

Visions are powerful things. Throughout history visions have called people to action. Great leaders have used visions to inspire and motivate us. President John F. Kennedy had a vision of man landing on the moon by the end of the 1960's and sure enough in the summer of 1969 the whole world watched in amazement as Neil Armstrong walked on the moon.

Kennedy's call for action empowered thousands of scientists, engineers and other experts. Working non stop they developed technologies, rocket engines, life support systems and hundreds of devices that were only dreamed of a few short years before. None of this would have happened without Kennedy's vision or dream of landing a man on the moon. Even though he was assassinated in 1963 his vision created the energy and momentum that excited people and propelled his vision towards the successful moon landing.

President Kennedy wasn't a rocket scientist or an astronaut. He did not know how a man could fly through space, land on the moon and return safely. He had faith in American know how and strongly believed that Americans inspired by great dreams/visions are capable of accomplishing the seemly impossible.

Another great leader whose vision or dream inspired millions was Dr. Martin Luther King. His great speech "I Have a Dream", delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, mobilized a whole generation of blacks and whites. King's powerful words gave voice to the aspirations of blacks and made them believe that equal rights were their birthright. Doctor King in his speech dreamed of a time in the future when children of black slaves and white sharecropper children could live in peace. The results of his speech awaken a nation to the plight of blacks.

Kennedy and King were able to create powerful visions and communicate these visions to millions of people. These visions transformed a nation and greatly affected the whole world. What you are going to do is create a personal vision. This vision will be to you just as powerful as John F. Kennedy or Martin Luther King’s vision. Your vision will paint a picture of the person you are becoming. As Kennedy's challenged NASA to land a man on the moon before 1970, your vision will challenge you to achieve the seemingly impossible. As the Reverend King's dream of a better life for blacks inspired and uplifted us all, so your vision will inspire and uplift you.

If you don't have one now is the time to create one. Take time to think of the person you want to become. Write down the attributes that are most important to you. A powerful personal vision will motivate you and compel you forward.

Think of this as the beginning of a grand adventure, a reality show in which you are the star, the director and the writer. All this may seem pretty daunting right now, but keep in mind that the longest journey starts with a single step. A month or a year or even five years from now you will look back on this day and say that this was a turning point in my life. That this was the day I decided to take action, gain control of my life and begin the journey towards the person I always dreamed I could be. Right now you are at an important crossroad. God willing, you have many years of life in front of you. You can decide to continue on the path you are on or turn off onto a higher road.

As you get older you realize how quickly time goes by. When you were a kid waiting a year, a week or even a day for your birthday seemed like an eternity. Later the days, weeks, months and years go by in the blink of an eye. Next year is just around the corner. Don't look back a year from now with regrets over things not done. Begin the adventure now, cameras, lights, action!

Re: Business Coaching Resources Re: Business Coaching Resources - You're fortunate when you can find a Business Coach who has experience beyond where you've been and even where you are going. When your budget is slim and even after, it's good to have a mentor. Several of various backgrounds are very useful. They can be teachers, professors, pastors, business people, family members, bosses and former bosses. You have to be clear on what you want and what you desire to achieve, be able to convey it as simply as possible. Stop and listen and don't over tax their time. You should always expect results whether from a Business Coach or Mentors. If you're not gtting results, you're either not focused or you need to upgrade the quality of your mentors/coaches. Always surround yourself by people smarter than you.

Post subject: Too successful for a mate? Post subject: Too successful for a mate? - That was an interesting article, Shri! Most of the women I know who continue to be single have some type of self limiting behavior which interferes with them either meeting or attracting the perfect mate for them. They are incredible and talented women, they just haven't set themselves up for relationship success. I know there are men who may be intimidated, but there are also men who aren't. Some men are attracted to smart women! My advice to these women would be to focus on creating the right environment for a relationship to happen. This would be a great time to hire a Life Coach or Relationship Coach. Taking action to get ready for a relationship doesn't mean having to be aggressive in finding a man. It's more subtle. If you don't make room for a man in your life, you might just squeeze out the opportunity before he gets to you. As well, you may be sending off all the wrong signals without realizing it. Seriously, I don't think successful women are off the proverbial "good wife material list". However, if you think yourself off of it then don't be surprised if you fulfill your own prophecy.

Re: Social Media & Digg, Google, MySpace, and YouTube Re: Social Media & Digg, Google, MySpace, and YouTube - Hi Kathy, What I meant about it being worth it was in the sense that I described. Creating multiple accounts for various sites and posting and ranking your own stuff. It's very time consuming to say the least. I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there that has done this and thinks it's beneficial.
