Tips On Making Good Decisions
Tips On Making Good Decisions
1. Define the issues: What needs to be decided? Sounds simple, but sometimes you need to understand the real issue.
2. Get the facts: Make sure the facts are accurate. Are your sources reliable?
3. What are the alternatives: Do you have options? Are they viable?
4. What are the costs/risks?: Each choice carries it's own costs, monetary and personal.
5. Are the costs/risks worth it?
6. Make a decision: You have gather the facts, looked at the options and weighed the costs, now it's decision time.
Making decisions can be easier with a personal strategic plan. Sometimes even after going through the above process, emotions still enter into the process. Having a matrix, a personal vision and mission statement can help you stay on track. If your personal vision/mission statement says that family is important than moving faraway to another state doesn't fit your personal mission.
Going with your gut instincts is fine especially in an emergency situation, but planning, having a process and carefully analzying all options is the best way to make good decisions.
