Live So That You May...

Guest post by: Dan Miller

Article Overview: I know I want to live my life in a way that I would want to life the same life all over again. That’s the way ideas get re-circulated. And that reminds me of another great quotation: "There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We just take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn, and they create new and curious combinations. We keep turning making new patterns, but they are the same old pieces of glass that have been in use throughout all the years." --Mark Twain So I’ll probably take Nietzsche’s quotation, refine it a little and make it my own.

Live So That You May...

“Live so that you may desire to live the same life again.” Friedrich Nietzsche

Good ole Friedrich was not known for his optimism about life, giving us his ideas that God is dead and man is nothing but a worm. He was plagued by depression, mental illness and syphilis and died a lonely, disturbed man. It’s hard to speculate why he wrote this quotation. But great thoughts come from a variety of places.
Using a quotable quotation does not imply a blanket endorsement of the person quoted. I like to find great ideas regardless of the source. In the Bible God used a donkey to speak wisdom and I suspect he’s used a few donkey’s since then as well. Another version of Nietzsche’s thought is this: “Live that thou mayest desire to live again — that is thy duty — for in any case thou wilt live again!”
I think that’s a worthy thought – and a challenge for all of us. I know I want to live my life in a way that I would want to life the same life all over again. That’s the way ideas get re-circulated. And that reminds me of another great quotation:"There is no such thing as a new idea.
How’s this: “Live your life in such a way – living, loving and learning – that you would want to live the same life all over again.” Dan Miller You may do better. Take it, modify it and make it your own. Believe me, it’s an honor to be quoted. Those offended by Nietzsche – or a donkey – may accept it from you or me. Great ideas will reappear in many forms. “And that’s the way it is.”

How Quick is That How Quick is That - Just to let you know that as I'm not as sharp as I might be in the ftp sort of world, I had a problem today with uploading a new site. Hostgator 'Live Chat' fixed this for me in two minutes flat and didn't make me feel I was an idiot at all (at least anymore than I felt myself). As I'm in the UK and ringing early am for me here, I thought that 'Live Chat' might have been EST, so off for me, but no, they were there! BTW I'd spelt my nameservers slightly wrong - duh! Now that's what I call service. Regards.
Just want to say Hi! Just want to say Hi! - Hi all, First time here. Looking to get lots of fantastic business tips from all experienced and budding entrepeneurs. Live in London, hubby, 2 kids, 2 dogs. Manic!! But would love to get going this year with my own business.
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife Internet Marketing Conference on SLife - I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways.. a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak. Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc.. Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL. There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.
Re: Balance - Make time for things you love Re: Balance - Make time for things you love - I agree to the importance of balancing a person's life. I know several people who seem to think that they were just put on earth to "bring home the bacon" and they'll do it at any cost. As a result, many of their marriages have suffered and children have been almost neglected. We once had a great guest speaker at one of our teacher in-services and he hit this very hard, as teachers tend to easily fall into the catagory of Live Off Balance; especially those that also coach. I will never forget his valuable motivational speech and have tried to keep my life balanced ever since. I look forward to checking into this subject futher and going to the links mentioned when I have more time. That's for letting us know about it.
Re: Get on Oprah, make a fortune! Re: Get on Oprah, make a fortune! - Suze Orman is very passionate about her work so I'm not surprised she got noticed by Oprah, however it came to be. (I've heard of people sending their books to Oprah's staff so they can filter information for Oprah to consider.) I personally have really enjoyed listening to Suze when she's been on Larry King Live. She has great tips and advice. She has also openly shared her passion for helping women achieve financial success as well. I guess the inspiration is that if you have something to offer that you believe can make a difference to many, then attempt to pull at Oprah's heart strings and see what happens. I remember reading in one of Marianne Williamson's books how being on Oprah instantly changed her life and she became a so-called overnight success. Being on Oprah isn't a dream of mine, but if it's yours, I cheer you on!
