Helping Others

I hope you had a happy and joyous month.

This month I am going to talk about ‘Helping Others’.

“Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark”. Rabindranath Tagore

How do you really feel about all the things in your life? Would you survive without them? What have you done lately which made a difference to someone else’s life?

There are people in this world which do not have the essentials such as water, food, shelter, clothing, education and love which we have the privilege of. So how grateful are you for all the things which you have in your life?

Recently, I found myself thinking about buying a pair of shoes because the pair I had was getting old (even though they were still wearable). I thought to myself ‘what will others think seeing me in these old shoes’. I became aware of these thoughts and said to myself ‘Popi when the time is right you will buy new shoes. There are people out there who do not even have socks to wear let alone think about buying shoes, so be grateful’. Once we put ourselves in someone else’s position we realise just how lucky we are and how much we have to be grateful for.

The other day I received a letter from my sponsor child’s mother and just by reading it I could sense how happy she was that I was sponsoring her daughter. The feelings that come over me are indescribable! By receiving this letter it made me realise that no matter where you are in the world, what language you speak, what culture you come from we are all connected in some way. This letter really made me see things from a different perspective and I truly believe that I am helping a young child’s life. We can all make a difference one way or another to each others lives!

"Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s what you do for others." Danny Thomas

What excuses or beliefs are holding you back from helping someone else and making their life better and easier? I am not just referring to monetary help but any type of help e.g. helping an elderly cross the road, doing a favour for someone in need, stopping to let someone cross the road when it’s raining, helping someone find a lost child in the shopping centre, being there as a shoulder to cry on, being supportive and understanding, calling someone just to say I love you. There are many many different ways in which we can help others and make a difference to their lives. What ways can you think of which can help others? Do not allow your disempowering thoughts to get in the way!

"Never underestimate what a simple gesture can do. It is the little things that you do that make a big difference in other people's lives." Catherine Pulsifer

In the past I had many disempowering thoughts about helping others. I would be afraid to help others because I thought that they would take me for granted and take advantage of my good will. I thought I would only end up hurting myself. It was not until I changed the way I was thinking that I took action and began to help others. By helping others not only have I made a difference to their life but my life has also changed tremendously. Remember - What you give out will come back to you multiplied!

“The wise person understands that his own happiness must include the happiness of others." Dennis Weaver

A very important element with helping others is to also allow others to help you. When you need help or support all you have to do is ask for it or if someone offers to help you, allow them. There are many people, just like yourself, who would be more than happy to help you.

By taking small steps you can make a difference to the world!

Hope you have a month full of love and happiness.

Re: What to do at the first roadblock? Re: What to do at the first roadblock? - GT said, I think seeing that the glass (i.e. market or opportunity) is only half full is a good mindset to have rather than looking at the sheer number of competitors. I would have to agree. I think this is a great thing to think about in almost any situation, whether home or business. As I mentioned, attitude is 95% of the battle. Keeping it positive is the only way to get the things you really want in life. Helping others helps, too. See the quote in my signature.
Social Media Marketing Category... Social Media Marketing Category... - I agree that a social media marketing category would be useful and added my vote. I would include "bookmarking" sites in the mix as well. Such a category would be useful for several reasons: 1. Talking about SMM, its purpose and networking strategies and tips. 2. Discussion of the various SMM sites. 3. New about new sites and developments. 4. Helping to build each others SMM networks.

Re: How should i promote a new website? Re: How should i promote a new website? - I think you are referring to SEO when you say buying traffic. You're actually partly right, and I say "partly" because SEO can be either. But just to look at it as a marketing tool. Helping others be informed of the service you provide is nothing bad I guess. but some really push the limits and take advantage. Anyway, I suggest you start with looking for communities where your site and its information can be useful and join the community. It can either be social networking sites or forums like these one. Ning.com has had a lot of community sites built nowadays, and the activeness of the people is unbelievable so you might be interested in joining some. Another way would be looking for blogs that talk about similar topic and exchanging links with them. This way you're helping both of your sites and the people looking for information as well. Go to wordpress.com and just look for the right categories, or go to blog directories. That would be my suggestion.
