Remote workers are happier, study says

Employees say that having the option to work from home gives them greater flexibility and satisfaction, according to a new survey.

Cisco polled nearly 2,000 of its own employees across five regions of the world to find out how staff members feel about remote working.

The findings reveal that 69 percent of respondents say they are more productive when working from home, while 75 percent say they finish their work more quickly.

A majority of employees agreed that although they may be based in a different location than co-workers, their success at communicating is not compromised. Eighty-three percent said they collaborate just as well at home as when they work on site.

"A properly executed program for telecommuting can be extremely effective at unlocking employee potential by increasing work-life balance, productivity and overall satisfaction," said Rami Mazid, vice president of global client services and operations at Cisco.

Indeed, 80 percent of survey respondents said working from home had improved their quality of life.

Flexibility and an enhanced work-life balance are some of the most common benefits cited by freelance workers who are home-based.

Re: Should you hire ambitious workers or employees with no goals Re: Should you hire ambitious workers or employees with no goals - I don't have any permanet workers now. I outsourced everything now to freelancers. I have many workers in the past and most them are ambitious which affect my business
Re: Should you hire ambitious workers or employees with no goals Re: Should you hire ambitious workers or employees with no goals - I think its ok to hire an ambitious person,if he doesnt have a personal goal but understands the company's goal and ready to learn the principles of the company.Ambitious workers are always craving for success but they need to be well supervised because ambitious workers don't need much movitation but must be guided by experienced supervisor.
Best Month For Getting Financed? Best Month For Getting Financed? - I would think that November and December would be bad, as most people are busy racking up debt in the holiday season... has there ever been a study on what are the most popular months for people getting loans? Although, with the current breakdown in banks, I suppose all the old paradigms are going to be trashed, and new ways of doing things will have to be learned. Quite a few large comapanies seem to be built on nothing but smoke and mirrors, with nothing to back them up... Much as I hate to see thousands of people thrown out of work just before Christmas, the Unions have way too sweet a deal wth the Big 3 Automakers. Laid off workers get paid 95% of their paycheck, indefinitely? Ridiculous!

Yet a few days ago, he was complaining that the bailout was stopped as a conspiracy to bring down the union. Its been interesting to hear the differences between the auto worker situations in the south and the auto workers in the north - also interesting to note that auto makers in the south are still making money. One report said that one of the big 3 auto makers and Hundai or Nissan actually grossed the same amount last year - one is making money and one needs billions. Hmmmmm... makes you think. Chris
Are Economic Recessions Good for Franchising? Are Economic Recessions Good for Franchising? - As I understand it, when there are more corporate layoffs you have more workers looking into starting their own business. It makes sense in a backwards sort of way. My first impression is that Franchising would take a hit like everyone else... but the more I look into it: [i:35vhc2a9]The opposite occurs[/i:35vhc2a9]. There's a larger pool of very qualified workers that are disenchanted with the corporate world. They are often more than willing to take a bigger risk and seek self-employment, whether it's a franchise or not. In my opinion, there are lots of good opportunities out there, it's just a matter of doing your research and finding a nice fit.
