Educational Gifts Celebrate the Uniqueness of Each Child

How children see themselves can shape who they become and what they achieve. I See Me! Inc. offers parents, grandparents, other relatives and friends a wonderful tool to help build the priceless gift of self-esteem at an early age through its books, My Very Own Name and My Very Own Fairy Tale. Unlike other personalized books in which children’s names are stamped into a designated spot, I See Me! Inc. storybooks are truly unique to each child with a different storyline and even different illustrations in each child’s book. Bound with hard covers, the storybooks are regarded as high quality, wonderful keepsake gifts for newborns and children through age 12. As an added touch, each book includes a personalized dedication from the sender on the first page.

I See Me! Inc.’s first book, My Very Own Name has become a favorite gift of several A-list celebrities including Courtney Cox and Brooke Shields. Winner of the Mom’s Choice Award and iParenting Media Award, the book celebrates the birth and naming of each child. In this beautifully illustrated story, entertaining animals come together to find the perfect name for the new baby. One by one, animals bring letters to spell the child’s first and last name. The lamb brings the “L”, the elephant brings the “E”, and so on, until the child’s first and last names are spelled in rhyme. At the end, the animals celebrate because they’ve created the perfect name. The book also includes the child’s birth date and an illustrated encyclopedia of 61 animals, with fun facts about each. This educational book helps young children learn to recognize letters and spell their names. It makes a perfect birth, adoption, birthday or holiday gift for boys and girls ages 0-8.

In I See Me! Inc.’s book, My Very Own Fairy Tale, little girls are transported into a magical garden where enchanting flower and berry fairies crown her as their fairy princess. Exquisitely illustrated fairies spell out the child’s first and last names, while describing character traits that make the recipient alone the perfect princess candidate. The storyline is designed to build a girl’s vocabulary, letter recognition, and all-so-important self-esteem. Winner of the Mom’s Choice Award and Family Choice Award, the book also includes an illustrated encyclopedia with educational facts about flowers and berries.

Each book is also available in a gift set that includes various accessories to compliment the book, such as an embroidered t-shirt and a plush frog in the My Very Own Name gift set, and a rhinestone tiara and personalized poem in the My Very Own Fairy Tale gift set.

My Very Own Name and My Very Own Fairy Tale are the brainchild of author and mother of three, Maia Haag. I See Me! Inc. has published nearly half a million personalized books for children all around the world. It also donates a portion of its proceeds to First Book, a nonprofit organization that has distributed over 60 million books to under-privileged children in communities around the USA. Hundreds of preschools and elementary schools around the country also receive a portion of book sales through I See Me! Inc.’s fundraising program.

My Very Own Name and My Very Own Fairy Tale can be ordered from the I See Me! website. They will arrive within 2 weeks of ordering. The books are also available at over 500 specialty retail stores, online retailers, in catalogs and fine department stores, such as Nordstrom and L.L Bean.

Since that time the Haags have successfully launched several new personalized books and gifts for children which you can find online at www.iseeme.com or at many fine retailers including Nordstrom, LL Bean and Red Envelope. Sports is queen! Sports is queen! - About four years ago I started a webzine called The Thunder Child, devoted to science fiction and fantasy in all media. Growth was verrrrrrrrrrrrry slow at first, but has gradually picked up so that now I'm making a respectable income from my amazon.com and google adsense. (Well, from adsense, anyway. Amazon is a drop in the bucket compared to what adsense brings in.) Last year I put together a website showcasing the Tennessee Lady Vols (who won the NCAA championships last year), and just two weeks ago I put together a small website for Jacoby Ellsbury, a rookie outfielder for the Boston Red Sox - called a "phenom" and already very popular. The Lady Vols site has about 20 pages...the Ellsbury site has 5. Compared with The Thunder Child that, started out with about 20, and is now at about 1,000 and growing. Well, the hits on those two sports sites are more than three times what the hits on my Thunder Child site was during the first year of its existence. Since I've been a sports fan all my life, I reaaaaally wish that I'd started a sports webzine four years ago instead of this sci fi one, because I think my income now would be treble what it is. No doubt about it, sports rules!
hosting more than one site on a domain? hosting more than one site on a domain? - I use ipower, because I like their file manager interface. (Although it is not as good as geocities - but they annoyed me and I'll never use them again.) Ipower does seem to outsource it's Help features to non-native-English speaking people, which can be annoying if you have problems, but although my site was down for a couple of days last year, for the most part I haven't had any problems where I need to deal with them. My question is... what about hosting more than one site on a single domain? My main domain is The Thunder Child, but I've purchased domain names for my two other web magazines, which I host under the Thunder Child umbrella. This way I'm only paying $100 a year for one site, plus $18 for my domain names, instead of paying $300 a year for individual sites. This makes sense to me, but I'm wondering if anyone else has any insights. Should websites have their own individual sites, expensive as that may be, or is "umbrella hosting" okay?
Re: How Many Friends Is Too Many? Re: How Many Friends Is Too Many? - I worked with MySpace for a time, trying to develop contacts to send to my Thunder Child webzine. Got plenty of friends... but never got any benefit out of it...
Re: Starting customized giftware... Re: Starting customized giftware... - Starting off with a Customized Gift is definitely a great idea. But you have not mentioned anything about what is or are the products that your organization is into. You have also not mentioned what is the target market or who your customers are. But it needs to be mentioned that whom you want to give the gift. There are two different categories of people who visit you. One category is those who are not much interested to buy. They visit the store for inquisitiveness or finding out what you have to offer them. These people can be given some smaller tokens. The other category is of those who buy from you are your real customers and you can give them gifts. The best gift after the sales will definitely be the after sales support and customer services. But these are in the longer run to retain the customers. You can start off with giving some percentage extra depending on what you have to offer. How about Discounts or different Gifts in lieu of purchase of X Amount, Y Amount...
