Inspire Productivity by Thinking like an Entrepreneur

Whether you work for yourself, someone else, or are currently unemployed you can have an entrepreneurial spirit. Having a sense of enthusiasm and curiosity about what you do and those around you will allow you to engage differently than the average person.

Here are some differences between average people and someone with an entrepreneurial spirit.

Each day feels fresh and new. While there are routine tasks there are always opportunities to find new and better ways of doing things. Each day is precious and if you feel bored your results will show it. Whenever possible delegate tasks you are not good at or do not enjoy.

Surround yourself with excellence. Successful people have a team of great people behind them. It may include the spouse and the children (and by the way it's a two-way street so remember you are part of their success too). Maybe consider starting a mastermind group and meet weekly to talk about your goals and to hold each other accountable. And consider hiring a life or business coach. Most successful people have both. Participate in networking events both in person and online.

Stay inspired. Are you inspired by the people around you? Do you inspire others? Inspiration comes from an attitude, which comes from a feeling. Engage in activities that allow you to be around inspiring individuals and for you to inspire others. Consider creative activities like art, or music or get out in nature.

Come up with some new ideas. If you begin to feel stuck or dissatisfied think about your situation and how you can bring about positive change. The change does not need to be big. If you are bored there are little activities like driving a new way to work that can make a difference. Look at your physical surroundings and try moving things around or declutter. Do anything you can to allow yourself to think about things differently. A new perspective can be like a breath of fresh air.

Find the joy in life. What did you used to love to do? Life is busy but it is important to make time to feel happy and relaxed. Stress is a precursor to illness and disease so take care by enjoy the simple pleasures in life. You do not need to make major life changes. Like inspiration, happiness is an attitude that comes from a feeling. If your reality doesn't make you happy then take time to imagine something that does make you happy. Not only will it reduce stress but it can also create possibilities for real change in your life.

Boldest Entrepreneur Moves of All Time = Christopher Columbus: "... he saw the possibility of treasure and commerce where others saw only danger. He committed so wholeheartedly to that vision that not even dozens of rejections and ongoing penury could dissuade him from pursuing a journey to Asia via the West. He built on his technical strengths as a seaman to plan a viable journey and eventually marshal an expedition." - Christopher Hoenig, 6 Essential Secrets for Thinking on a New Level I bought Hoenig's book about 10 years ago but couldn't make head or tail of it then... reading it now and finding it inspirational... 2. Hiring introverts vs. extroverts Hiring introverts vs. extroverts - Hi Kevin - interesting topic! Thinking back over my career as an entrepreneur and the people I've brought on, most of them have been introverts. The exception usually comes with the sales function (but not always). It's generally hard to be a good salesperson if you are an introvert.

Re: Getting ready to sell by childhood baseball card collection. Re: Getting ready to sell by childhood baseball card collection. - Sounds like we're in a similar situation Mal. For me it just got to a point where I realized if I took my top 20 or 30 cards that meant the most to me I could actually display them and cherish them instead of keeping them in boxes with all the others. Plus I knew others could benefit and get new happiness from the other cards. Thinking about those 2 points made it a lot easier to part with them.
