Goal Setting - Not your Everyday Goal Setting Article!

I'm reading a book by David Cameron Gikandi, who was a creative consultant on The Secret. Now, I've written more than one Ezine about how important getting clear on your goals is. It gives focus and direction to your thinking and to your actions. I've also talked at some point or another about creating a vision board for yourself, so you can see your goals and dreams, in a clear picture, on a daily basis, which is key to manifesting them. In this book, A Happy Pocket Full of Money, Gikandi says that the most successful people have not a list of goals 1-2 pages long, or 1 poster board full of images, but thousands of goals, from big (I am travelling around the world for a year on a private jet with 3 of my closest friends), to small (I grow a juicy tomato in my garden). He says start with 100 goals, work your way up to 5000. I am not going to even attempt to describe here the concepts in the book, some of which include images of the mind, thinking and speaking, being, acting, and certainty (and some of which are very simple). You can read the book for all that good stuff (and I recommend you do!)

One of the things that has been most interesting for me is the goals journal that I've started. 5000 goals is A LOT of goals! So per his suggestion, I've started a journal and created several sections in it which include: Home, Health and Lifestyle; Career, Life Purpose and Wealth; Travel and Entertainment; and Love, Connection, and Friends. I write in all my goals, and I include images of what they look and feel like wherever I can.

What I've found, which is significantly changing the way I think about things, is that now I am allowing myself to break through a big "goal" barrier that I did not even realize was there. Now when I have a passing thought, like, "wouldn't it be nice to see my sister, brother and nieces at least once a month?" for example, rather than write it off as unlikely because, from where I am now, I don't see HOW it would be possible, instead I write it down in my journal with intention. Now when I think "wouldn't it be great to go on several yoga/health retreats a year?" or "wouldn't it be beautiful to grow orchids and have them all over my home?" I write them down in my journal. After all, I'm not going to get to 5,000 goals unless I get them all down!

All of the sudden, I'm not filtering or inadvertently screening my goals, and I'm realizing I really do have a ton of them, all that would bring me much joy. The more I ALLOW myself to have them, rather than subconsciously selecting the "right" or "important" or "appropriate" ones, I just let them all flow. It is so much fun!

Miraculously and quite simply, none of them seem so unattainable anymore. There are steps to take beyond just keeping them safely in your journal, but this is one key step in seeing the next opportunity that will get you closer to where you want to go.

Try it and see if it helps you, like me, break through an invisible goal barrier, and free yourself up to get more creative than you ever imagined yourself. A quote from one of my guides in India comes to mind, "It is India, anything is possible!" Well, it is YOUR LIFE! ANYTHING is possible!! And you may be the only thing holding you back.

The idea is that in the blog you put in snippets of some of the biggest conversations with a 'read more' link to the forum itself.
