How do you keep it together on a daily basis? - By Marie-Piere Belisle-Kennedy

The power of blogs still amazes me. Only a few years ago, being a "member of the media" was the only sure way to get your messages heard and share information to the world, but today, how many times have we picked up useful tips and advice on every thing, from business tips, balanced lifestyles, fitness, giving back, and happiness through interesting and inspiring blogs? Good Housekeeping magazine was referring to the astounding number of women reading blogs on a regular basis, in order to feel connected to others’ experiences. Reaching out to those working from home especially, who manage an international/virtualclient base: What makes your day more meaningful? For me, the joy of having my own personal home office, where my beloved dog Sam can hang out with me on her couch is extremely precious. My husband also has his own work space in the house, which includes the entire “women-free zone” garage, the basement, and his large sun filled office big enough to fit a yoga studio. Not that I’m jealous of all the space his business occupies compared to mine, but having your own space is a nice luxury. Come to think of it, it would be nice to switch rooms, but I’m comfortable in this quiet part of the house and for me it beats a cubicle in a high rise any day. But to get here I had to hire help. Professional help. My Efficiency Coach, Angèle Lord, came in with a smile and hope at just the right time and we redesigned the office and storage space. Archives need labels and matching boxes. Who new? Those blessed with her talents and patience can do wonders for clarity in very little time. Organizers are god-sent and worth every penny. She will spend a few hours just inquiring about the way I work (organized chaos) and see why this works for me and plan around, without forcing a square through a hole. These services are also offered to large corporations and even government and have proven to be not just a time, but a money saver. Clutter is not only found on our desk. Think of all the ways we could organize our email files and electronic documents better, as our companies grow exponentially. As they say, "If time is money, organization is gold!"

The pleasure of being able to go for a hike most days and work late into the night goes a long wayto foster my creativity and sanity on a deadline filled week. But some also see the other side of having your work always staring at you in the face if you do not have a closing door to your office, or if you have already become a crackberry type; lucky for my husband and I, we manage to deal with MOST urgent matters daily, then talk about anything else that’s on our minds on our walks. It wasn’t always the case in our past lives chasing the corporate gold mine, but today, better planning and semi-annual strategy sessions have made us aware that no one will be there to take care of us when we’re older so we better incorporate sustainable and healthy habits in our work lives and our lifestyles in general so we can outlast the previous working generation’s goals (Freedom 55?). Not obvious when business has more than tripled over the last two years, we still struggle for balance daily. Isn't that the point of living, to search for ways to achieve a little more without losing our freedom or our mind?

On that note, time to strech and refill that cup of green tea! Have a wonderful blessed day and make the most of it.

The words "Born Entrepreneur" were meant to BE for this Canadian lifestyle writer, journalist, and professional translator. Early on, Marie-Piere realized she just loved all forms of media and studied communications, marketing, translation and finance in the hopes of one day running her own business. She spent years in the fast-paced world of business, events, radio and TV, until health issues threatened to derail her cherished goals so she turned to writing by launching 5 Star Communications(www.5starcom.ca and blog) with a growing international client base. Lifestyle and life balance are what she loves to write about most, by interviewing others and conducting research. Personal inspiration came from Oprah Winfrey, Tony Robbins, Les Brown and W. Mitchell, to name a few role models. A published freelance writer with national magazine columns and newspaper articles, she is now working on her fist book with friend Dr. Cheryl Cooper, on how to strive for a new definition of success as a team in all spheres of life, equipped with a special formula and an attitude of gratitude. Today she lives in Chelsea, Quebec, Canada, with her husband and Labrador retriever.
