Learn To Increase Your Confidence for Greater Success

Guest post by: Anne Bachrach

Article Overview: Confidence is generally thought of a mental state of being “certain.” Confidence could apply to the knowledge one carries that his viewpoint is true. Confidence could also apply to a permanent emotional state of mind, as in self-confidence: having high self-esteem in general and especially when considering a specific capability. Case in point: some people who struggle with self-doubt in most aspects of their life, but who are confident in one belief. Confidence has sometimes been called a “self-fulfilling prophecy”, since those that have it succeed just as they predict, whereas those who lack it fail because they worry too much about not having it.

Confidence is generally thought of a mental state of being "certain." Confidence could apply to the knowledge one carries that his viewpoint is true. Confidence could also apply to a permanent emotional state of mind, as in self-confidence: having high self-esteem in general and especially when considering a specific capability. Case in point: some people who struggle with self-doubt in most aspects of their life, but who are confident in one belief. Confidence has sometimes been called a "self-fulfilling prophecy", since those that have it succeed just as they predict, whereas those who lack it fail because they worry too much about not having it.

Confidence in the Real World

You have to set your own goals and do so in the real world. Stubbornly adhere to an unrealistic goal and you may well be dooming yourself to failure. A successful person sets milestone goals that can be accomplished in a short time and that lead to their long-term and life-time goals. Obviously, the sky is the limit and no great mind would be satisfied with accomplishing just a few insignificant things. The more goals you set out to accomplish, and eventually complete, the more confidence you will retain. Confidence is not a broad quality that you can master in a day. True confidence is a quality that relates to a specific, tested capability. The more that you do in life the more confidence you will find. Can you learn to be confident even if you don't have much life experience? You could attempt to fake confidence, but it wouldn't be as convincing as the real thing. It's best to start defining and writing down your goals so you can set out an action plan to accomplish them right away.

Looking Confident

There are some basic guidelines to remember on how to behave like a person of confidence and these tidbits can help you to improve your relationships with others. Body language is important. Always try to make a good first impression. Think positive thoughts so that your inner confidence will emanate from you and people will be drawn to your persona. Practice good posture and stand up straight. Make eye contact and don't shy away from conversation. Some people state that exercising can help you to increase your confidence level, improve your body image, not to mention release positive endorphins. It's equally important to dress properly for every occasion.

What's even more important than physical self-improvement however is creating and maintaining a positive self-image. Always be kind to yourself, forgiving yourself for past mistakes, and reminding yourself that you have wonderful qualities to offer as a human being. The new, confident you is assertive; you're not a bully nor do you intrude on the plans of others, yet you do not let other people manipulate you. You stand up for yourself, just as quickly as you would stand up for other people.

You are careful to surround yourself with a good support group. Your friends support your choice of career, your lifestyle and your beliefs. You are surrounded by encouragement because you yourself spread positive energy to others. The more you live, and the more things you do with your life, the more you feel confidence rising from within. This is the type of self-confidence that cannot be faked. This confidence is genuine, never overbearing and will take you wherever you want to go.

Increase your confidence and you will experience even greater professional and personal successes in life. Enjoy how that makes you feel. A little bit of knowledge can help you achieve your goals in record time.

Boosting Confidence Boosting Confidence - Confidence is something all of us women could stand to have infused in our blood 24/7! It’s one of those areas that many struggle with the most. Through my coaching practice, I’ve discovered an underlying thread that seems to undermine confidence in some women. It has to do with confusing true confidence with pride or arrogance. Confidence is being sure of who you are and what you are able to do in a way that does not compare yourself to others. It is not dependent on value because every one of us women is valuable. Pride or arrogance is when someone lifts him or herself above others as if they are more valuable than others. It also seems to be related to "approval addiction" where the self esteem must continually be fed by others or they don't feel good about themselves. Thus, some arrogant people put others down so they can see themselves as above. Confidence is simply being all of the great woman you already are. You want to create a great business and you want to do your job well. It is not prideful to be confident in what you are doing. I invite you to give yourself permission to really let your abilities come forward and see what happens to you and your business as a result. I’d also love to hear what methods you have for boosting your own confidence.
