When we are asked about what we want to do or achieve in our lives, we often respond by indicating what we DON'T want.
"I don't want to be depressed anymore"
"I don't want to be fat forever"
"I don't want to be in an abusive relationship"
By stating what you don't want, you are more likely to remain in the very situation you want to change.
WHY?
By saying what you don't want, you are merely reinforcing your situation using negative self talk, making change virtually impossible. However, there is a simple technique of moving away from negative thinking - just by adopting a "can do" approach.
Think about what you DO want in your life. When stating what you want more of in your life, state it in a way as if you already had you wanted in your life.
"I want to be happier and more confident"
"I want to be slimmer"
"I want to be in a trusting, healthy relationship"
By merely stating what you want rather than what you are experiencing now, your mindset changes and gets you thinking in positive terms.
When you decide what you DO want in your life, start saying it to yourself and others. Once you get into the "can do" mindset, you will notice something amazing - those things you want to achieve in your life suddenly become a probability rather than an impossibility.
So think about your current situation in positive terms and where you want to be - you CAN DO it!
