Hot Trends: Five Ways to Make Money From Home

The first book I fell in love with as a child was Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery...here's a quote I could (and still do!) relate to: "There's such a lot of different Anne's in me. I sometimes think that is why I'm such a troublesome person. If I was just the one Anne it would be ever so much more comfortable, but then it wouldn't be half so interesting."

Working with people who want to start their own home based businesses is pure joy for me -it allows me to use my possibility thinking to the max. Once you start seeing all kinds of opportunities to make money...you won't be able to stop! Start by thinking of possibilities for other people you know...before you know it...you'll start creating multiple profit centers of your own.

Here's a roundup of just a few home based business ideas to get you started:

1. Writing. I've made six figures in a year from writing for the last four years. There are all kinds of ways to make money through writing: grant writing, technical writing, copywriting, travel writing, resume writing, website copywriting, and creating blogs that attract ads are just a few of the ways you can enjoy your writing skills while bringing in the bacon.

2. Computer repair. I've often wished I had someone reputable (a good sense of humor would be a bonus) I could call who would make home visits to repair my computer. You can serve consumers or small businesses or both.

3. Senior Services. This industry is exploding. You can provide all kinds of non-medical services. You could specialize in one or create different service packages. Some ideas: caregiver who keeps a person company while doing light housework and maybe cooking, provide transportation to appointments, shopping, yard work, or pet care/grooming/boarding.

4. Virtual Assistant. I've had the same VA, Pat, for several years. She lives in Texas and I'm in Southern California...and we work together beautifully. There are online schools that will provide training, certification and a listing on their websites. Pat recommends AssistU where she got her training.

5. Website/Blog Designer. This is another fast growing field. Most people are overwhelmed at the thought of creating a website or blog...if you come in with a "Do It For You" service that keeps it simple for them, you'll have more business than you can handle alone (not a bad problem to have!). You might want to team up with a marketing coach who can help the client decide on the overall focus of the website and the copy that describes specific benefits about their products or services. Or maybe you're talented in copywriting and can do it all!

Keep on looking for those opportunities that are a great fit for YOU. They're endless.

Re: Need A Review Of My Internet Marketing Blog Re: Need A Review Of My Internet Marketing Blog - Hi Jay, I tend to agree with the others. You have obviously put a great deal of effort into your site which you can be proud of and the content is great but there is just too much of it. As soon as I landed on your home page I was immediately distracted by a pop up message followed by another banner at the bottom-not good. I want to see your site and what you have to offer. A lot of visitors will just exit out at this point when what you want them to do is stick around and ‘take action’ by signing up to one of your offers. Try to streamline your site into your banker offers and a few others and if you want to lead people away from your front page to specific niche offers all about perhaps ’surveys’ or ‘data entry’ then just include a side widget for something like ‘Other Ways To Make Money On The Interent’ and take them away to another page with different banners etc but not all on your front page as they will be totally confused by all the offers and leave. My site below is very new with limited content to very specific offers and over the coming months I will be developing it to cover other linked pages to other areas of interest for the visitors, best wishes, Mal.
Re: Quote of the Day - "The only people witho Re: Quote of the Day - "The only people witho - Thanks for sharing this Evan, there are some very powerful quotes in there, I particularly like this one:- You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully. regards, Mal.
Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? - It is a difficult decision to make. Lets start it this way - What are you more interested in? Money? or Friends? or Both? If its purely Money, then Blog might be an appropriate answer. But consider this - It will be people (visitors) that will bring traffic to your blog and then Money will follow. This will be possible after a time and during this time it will be your friends who will be the starters. If you are looking for friends only, then its true that not many will be interested in knowing how you have beaten them in the game or the other way round. So it will be preferable to have a Forum where they can share ideas with you and others. But you can share your insider knowledge with them and invite comments from your Blog. You can also put up information on what others (including your friends) don't know about Tennis. The blog you create can provide News, Inside Information and also Techniques that can be used by the new entrants in the world of Tennis.
Making Money in 2011 Making Money in 2011 - Hello forum members! As we draw closer to the new year I thought it would be appropriate to change the title of our forum category "Making Money in 2010" to "Making Money in 2011" - I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions and wish everyone a prosperous New Year!
QuickBooks vs. Microsoft Money vs....? QuickBooks vs. Microsoft Money vs....? - I have always used Microsoft Money to run my business - accounting, invoicing, etc. It came with my computer when I got it and integrated well with my online banking system so everything is a breeze. It only takes 30-60 minutes every quarter to do the bookkeeping (keep in mind that I have a very simple business - no inventory, very little invoicing, I do all my payments by credit card, etc). Is QuickBooks or Money the best accounting tool for small business owners? Or is there something even better?
