2 Great work-life balance tips to 'Pick you UP' & 'Perk you UP'

TIP 1. Replace doom and gloom, with 'BLOOM" When the world around you is unsteady or in turmoil, it is important to remind yourself life isn't all about doom and gloom. The simple act of buying flowers and placing them in your home and your workplace can instantly 'pick you up' and keep you 'perked up' for the rest of the day. Science has proven they have strong positive effects on our emotional wellbeing. Studies show a vase of flowers placed in the home, increases feelings of compassion, decreases anxiety, and boosts energy and enthusiasm........... Your challenge is to buy yourself a bunch of flowers each week for the next 2 weeks. This challenge is equally important for a man! Choose your blooms carefully. Choose them for their perfume, texture and colour. Choose the blooms that pleasure your senses. Aromas and hues can induce chemical changes in the brain. Green colours can serve as a natural stress reliever, whilst reds can serve as an energy booster. Buy them for yourself. Buy them for your workplace, or encourage your boss to take up the challenge and fill the workplace with flowers. Divide a bunch and put them in small vases in the hall, the bedroom and kitchen. STOP and take time-out to enjoy their smell, textures and their visual beauty. This simple task will increase your emotional resilience. TIP 2 "BE Kind and Gentle to Yourself" Are you feeling on top of the world? Or, are you feeling down and unmotivated? Or, do you feel somewhere in between? No matter how you feel, it is important that you are being "Kind and Gentle to Yourself" Yes, it's 'OK' to Be Kind and Gentle to Yourself..... Even when life is great, we can criticise ourselves, we can yank ourselves down from great heights and, sabotage our success. Self criticism or hearing criticism from other people can keep you down and unmotivated for days. Be conscious of your thoughts and self talk, so you can change the negativity that disempowers you. Speak to yourself as you would speak to your best friend. Speak to yourself kindly, encouragingly and compassionately. Be your own best friend.... It's ok to 'Be Kind and Gentle to Yourself'. Try it right now... Repeat 5 times - "Be Kind and Gentle to Myself". It may feel a little unfamiliar, or you may feel a resistance, however, when you use this simple statement often, it will become an empowering motivator and an effective stress reliever.

Re: Management Processes? Re: Management Processes? - Great question Aaron. Like you and Kevin have indicated, we can get a lot done by creating a management process. I like to: Prioritize what I need to do in order of importance. Pick the top priority item. Brainstorm possible tasks. Pick a task and complete it. Move on to the next task. I find this helps break things down into manageable pieces. It also helps just to take small actions. [Link removed by forum admin]

Re: Credit card management Re: Credit card management - [quote="OmnivoreInk":2729cpnx]Too many people - usually young people, but it can strike anyone - mismanage their credit cards and end up spending more than half their paycheck each month on credit card bills - and only paying the interest, besides! Don't let this happen to you! Don't carry a balance at all. Pay off your card every month so you don't have to pay interest on the balance. If you can't afford something in one month's payment - save up until you have enough to pay for it. Otherwise, that item you buy will usually end up costing you twice as much again in interest fees.[/quote:2729cpnx] Great advise that far too many people put into action. Especially with an economy like the US has right now, the least amount of credit card debt, the better. Shri
