How I Learned To Dance And How You Can To

Article Overview: Why am I penning an article titled "How I Learned To Dance And How You Can To?" Furthermore, why should you care? Good questions. Do you remember when you were learning the latest dance steps as a teenager? You would get together with your friends and practice the latest steps. Remember the swaying of the hips, the popping of the fingers, clapping your hands, the fancy foot movements, singing along with the music and having so much fun and laughter making missteps. Oh, I intended to say mistakes and actually enjoying the mistakes because you knew they were a necessary process to learning the dance.

How I Learned To Dance And How You Can To

Why am I penning an article titled "How I Learned To Dance And How You Can To?" Furthermore, why should you care? Good questions. Do you remember when you were learning the latest dance steps as a teenager? You would get together with your friends and practice the latest steps. Remember the swaying of the hips, the popping of the fingers, clapping your hands, the fancy foot movements, singing along with the music and having so much fun and laughter making missteps. Oh, I intended to say mistakes and actually enjoying the mistakes because you knew they were a necessary process to learning the dance.

How is this possible? This is because when you made that misstep you knew this is apart of how to learn the steps and you tried very hard not to repeat the mistake.

The way I learned to dance is the way I learn everything. At first I had to carefully watch each step. I counted my steps in my mind and watched my friends who knew the steps. I practiced in front of my mirror; I practiced each time the music played. I was excited and determined to learn the latest dance. At last, I was anxious to show off my moves to my friends. More fun.

There was never a doubt that I would learn the steps to the latest dance and I did.

Let us turn this around and compare it to a difficult task you are learning today. How is your attitude and your approach? Are you fearful that you cannot perform, are you thrilled about the possibilities of this new challenge and are there any doubts?

Go back to the time you learned to dance or learned anything new that was a challenge for you and you mastered and enjoyed it. Stay there for a moment and transfer those feelings to the task you find difficult today. It is all the same thing.

Our approach and attitude is different. What has happened to make stepping out of your comfort zone so fearful? Remember the misstep you made while learning to dance. It caused laughter. Yes, I do realize mistakes as an adult can be costly however, if you do not step out of the place you are comfortable you will stand still. Actually, nothing stands still. You will go back. So it is up to you to move forward or move back.

Decide now.

Learn to dance again. Challenge yourself. Have fun with your life!

Honor yourself!

Re: What Do Women Entrepreneurs Want? Re: What Do Women Entrepreneurs Want? - [quote="Tami Szabo":1ya8y88l]Shri, I really appreciate what you said. When we place the blame elsewhere, we give our power away. However, when we look at ourselves and our our ability to create the lives and businesses that we want, we empower ourselves. Kevin asked what I'd like to see with this forum and I think you and I are on the same page. I want to see this as a community of intelligent women where we inspire each other to think bigger and open up to the great possibilities for ourselves and our businesses. I truly believe each one of us women has great talent and potential. When we stop comparing ourselves with others and simply focus on succeeding at being the amazing women we already are, we give ourselves permission to grow forward in incredible ways. Fear takes a back seat because it's not about impressing others, but simply expressing who we already are. Since we're all great women, we have nothing to prove. I desire to see this forum as a safe place to share our plans and invite the best of each other forward. Let's set a precedence of not measuring our value against other women or men. We are not a threat to each other! Imagine the powerful force we will be if we learn to come together and keep inviting each one to reveal her great talents. With much warmth and sincerity, Tami[/quote:1ya8y88l] I like Shri's comments as well because people who complain a lot only make themselves look bad rather than their subject matter. And Tami, when you said that you have a "desire to see this forum as a safe place to share our plans and invite the best of each other forward" it reminded me of the book "Don't Think Pink" by Lisa Johnson & Andrea Learned. In that book, the authors share your sentiments by saying "Hosting a forum through which your women customers can share their stories with one another...women will remember the brand that helped them find a solution-oriented community, and they will remain loyal and very likely spread the word about it to their friends” ("Don't Think Pink" 73).
