Vocation, Destiniy and Work

Having work out of perspective creates a great deal of stress and can rob us of the joy we could be experiencing in our lives. Let's take a look at three words which we often equate with one another but which express entirely different concepts. Work - tasks you perform to generate income.

Vocation - a special urge to a particular calling or career

Destiny - a path, chosen unconsciously, that will maximize learning and growth during a lifetime.

Maintaining the belief that work, vocation and destiny are synonymous places tremendous pressure on us to find one thing that fulfills all three needs.

In its truest sense vocation is a powerful passion to fulfill one burning drive. What if some people are "called" to many things throughout their lives? A better way to approach vocation is to honour your current passion and allow it to lead you to balance and growth.

Destiny is a broad concept referring to the learning and growth one has chosen to accumulate in their lifetime. Destiny relates to a person's whole life. It serves to remind us that there is much more to life than work. It helps us to focus on the bigger picture.

As you consider your job ask yourself if you are setting clear boundaries between what you do to earn a living and the things that spark your passion. Work and vocation can go together but by no means have to. You can derive satisfaction from a vocation that is a hobby until it can become a reliable source of income as is the case with many artists and writers.

If you can keep work, vocation and destiny separate they will serve you by leading you to your passions, giving you a healthy perspective on whatever job you may be doing and moving you forward in your life while bringing you confidence and a deep sense of peace.

I have been using Energy Healing and Life Path Coaching successfully for the past 15 years with a variety of clients dealing with stress at work, anxiety and other physical, emotional or spiritual problems. My clients who have experienced stress at work have reported improvements in a variety of ways including being more relaxed, sleeping better, better relationships, expressing their needs more clearly and consistently, and finding more peace and joy in their lives. For over 25 years I was in a very successful corporate career. I was stressed out at work, traveling all the time and feeling disconnected from my partner, my friends and myself. By learning, experiencing and practicing Huna Reiki Energy Healing and working with Life Path Coaching techniques I was able to build inner strength and peace. I began to relax more at the office. I started see what needed to change. Then I found the courage to work towards those changes. Eventually I realized that I wanted to pursue a new career helping people who are suffering unmanageable pressure and stress at work to find the inner peace and clarity to move forward in their lives.
