Passion First, Profits Second!

Too many people (myself included) have structured literally their entire lives around chasing the most income they can possibly make. While that may sound just peachy, after a while; that strategy always fails. In the Metro Detroit area, where I live, we are literally watching the myth of "corporate security" vaporize before our eyes. Many, MANY folks who have worked for years in an industry that promised good wages and benefits to the ‘average Joe' are now finding themselves without a job. Is this real? Yes indeed.

Wanna know what else is real? There has NEVER been a time with more opportunity than this. Yes, I believe that and no one is going to tell me any different. My entire family has spent their lives working in the automotive world. I started my career there as well. Most have retired. Some have taken a ‘buy out' and yours truly was "downsized" about 9 years ago (after a month long trip to Japan).

Wanna know what? It's the best thing that ever happened to me. More on that later...

The money is out there. The customers are out there. YES - they are spending. However, people are smarter and more marketing savvy than ever before. You have to be real. You MUST be genuine to earn their trust and their patronage.

As a sales coach, I hear sales reps going ‘through the motions' every day. As I said in an earlier post - this is NOT the time to be mediocre. You HAVE to bring a passion to your daily work life. Passion, in fact, that is strong enough to meld your personal and professional life into one big ball of passion. Passion that will obliterate your dread of Mondays. Passion that will make the hours in your day fly past. Passion that you are truly stoked to share with everyone who comes close to you.

If only we could start from a standpoint of finding passion and following it - the rest would take care itself. Had I only known that before debt (which we're paying off) or a house, or two cars, etc. I would have had a lot more freedom to develop and follow my passion.

Better late than never! I believe God has gifted me later in life with a passion to help others. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

For the first time in 40 years, I'm breathing free air!

Re: Joomla Now Has A GetResponse Module Re: Joomla Now Has A GetResponse Module - Hi Kevin, Interesting that you tried Joomla and then gave up on it. So did I! There is a lot to be said for Joomla. It can make your site look very professional, you can completely change design in just a few clicks of your mouse, and if you add anything to a panel you can display it throughout your site... Also, Joomla does seem to suck in traffic. My traffic stats improved with Joomla, probably because of the interactive features it offers, such as the article directory feature and so on. However, I also experienced various frustrations with Joomla. HTML is simpler and you have complete control over your site, but you do have to recode every page when you make design changes... (unless you are prepared to learn CSS and then deal with all the browser problems...) Also, I market the Plug-In Profits Site and came to the conclusion that it would be better business practice to show my potential customers what can be done with a Plug-In Profits site by using one myself and modifying it to suit my purposes. After all, there is no better advertisement for a product than the fact that the seller also uses it! On the other hand, I know a lot of Internet marketers who love Joomla, so I think it is just a matter of choosing what works best for you. ... And if you like Joomla and use the GetResponse autoresponder service, life just got easier for you! David H

Re: On taking Action Re: On taking Action - [quote="jvprosperity":1hd0zjku]I was surprised to not see the words along the lines of taking deliberate action within the article. Do yo think it's an important part of the 6 points Evan summarized from the article or is it implied?[/quote:1hd0zjku] Hi Andy, I think taking deliberate action is implied in the six points. For instance, I interpret them as follows: 1. Set your sights on where you’re going - Write your goals down on paper. 2. Educate yourself - Read everyday about your field and even take courses on it. 3. Passion pays off - Enjoy what you're doing. 4. Grow your money - Invest your money. 5. No guts, no glory - Go out and sell your product/service/self everyday as if it were last. 6. The Biggest Secret? Stop spending. - Put aside as much money as you can into savings your account/retirement fund.
